Chris Williams & Brent Blum discuss significant recruiting victories for Iowa State football and men’s basketball over the weekend. Plus, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule throws some perceived shade towards Ames. Why? Discussing high school recruiting in general and more, all presented by Mechdyne.

Let’s pray that there is actually a salary cap going forward.

Change in philosophy after not being able to compete in the portal is needed. But so is how they manage the roster/rotation. Only playing 8 guys in a buy game needs to stop and investment minutes need to be found

For Iowa State not fully funding revenue sharing, freshmen are needed to fill holes, not just cheap upside lottery tickets to boost the ceiling

It’ll be like the NFL cap, at least for Iowa State. Most of the salary pool will go to retention of our most pertinent free agents, and freshmen on rookie deals playing at high levels are needed. Add a couple Mulder/Bob Jones and Mason Williams level of portal guys to augment.

That probably puts behind at least 5 or 6 programs in the Big 12 in terms of being able to reload in the portal, and perpetually younger

Rhule's bluster may buy him a little extra time with Husker fans, but even they will get tired of his lack of success and move on to the next head coach that feeds their delusions of grandeur.

Chris made the same comment on this podcast and 2GNC. Christian Wiggins is from the same area of Minnesota as Andrew. I was like, isn’t Andrew from Canada? Andrew played for the twolves, but I know that’s not what he’s talking about lol
THANK YOU!!!

This has been driving me crazy since it was announced he was visiting. At first I thought he was being facetious but it’s been mentioned on multiple pods.

Totally agree with the guys when they point out that if you're going to lean hard into the "We're the Big Ten" baloney you have to back it up quickly. Part of it is that you have to say it out of expectation, but you're shortening your own leash.

I'm glad the portal craziness has cooled. That just had to have felt like total madness to go through. I do sense some skepticism about the effectiveness of the settlement cap, but it all will depend on what penalties are agreed upon for failing to abide it. If recent track record is any indication, the arms race won't stop for long.

The pro sports analogy was good about if they had to share a salary cap. Imagine if the Patriots and Celtics had to share a salary. Especially true when you have a school with passionate fans of football and basketball. It will be interesting how schools that have dominant sport will handle the revenue sharing.

and it gets extra sticky at schools that really want a third sport to be competitive too... WBB will want its share and then some at places like South Carolina, UConn, LSU, etc.

Yeah I screwed that up. For some reason I had it in my head he was from Minnesota. My apologies.
