The coaches may have been on a burner phone. Who knows. But it wouldn't have mattered. They're getting caught because the number they're talking with is tapped, not their own.

Yeah but they can play the "it was not me card" since it was not there phone.

Why the coaches wouldn't disguise their voice and use fake names baffles me. Meet in person, give burner phone number, fake name to use, and be on your way.

We all know this has been going on for years with many Division 1 programs. Football, basketball etc. The more that is revealed about the schools being investigated, it seems to me that a decent percentage of these schools being investigate have been fairly successful in their athletic accomplishments; some but not all of them. I hope that the FBI's investigations and prosecutions at leasts helps level the playing field in recruitment a little bit for those programs that keep their recruitment above the table. I would like to think that ISU runs the straight and narrow and will continue to. My point is, everyone is in meltdown mode in regard to the Men's team these last few weeks and some are calling for Prohm's head. Cooler heads should prevail on that issue. BUT, we should be thankful that (I really like to think this is true) CSP and CMC are not those type of coaches. Our programs haven't even been mentioned in rumor mills/boards and we should be thankful for it. Things could be much worse. It's all a matter of perspective.

Maybe I am forgetting something, but the only thing he has gotten in trouble for was having a recruit to his house at a BBQ and then lying about it and that was years ago.
That recruit was our favorite, Aaron Craft.

As evidenced by your statement, you don't understand the legal case(s). No, the University of Kansas and other universities have not been found to be doing anything illegal. In fact, they are the victims in the cases. In the only case that has come to conclusion, Kansas, Louisville and Maryland all testified for the prosecution and were found to have been victims. There are instances of coaches committing illegal acts. More specifically, there are coaches who have been involved with the fraud upon the universities.

You're right. We should all feel sorry for the real victims in this matter, Kansas.

Has Houston been implicated? And if so, under Sampson? Would be interesting to see what happens to that guy if he's found to be dirty again.
Here's the thing that completely pi$$es me off about the NCAA. Guys like Sampson and Calipari each got a second chance (Calipari from Umass to Memphis & Sampson from OU to IU), and on their 2nd chance, they both cheated AGAIN! Now, each of these guys are on their third go-around (UH & UK). They're like that really awful white elephant gift that makes an appearance each and every holiday - can't get rid of that trash. In my opinion, if you are a coach that cannot keep your second program clean, rules need to be in place that you GTFO - banned for life! It's bad enough that there are already a lot of shady people around each major program & sometimes you can't keep them away from these HS AAU sensations, but you can certainly do something about the sleazes that fail to control their own programs and allow the sleazes to do whatever the h*** they want (as long as it gets you the talent). This is why I have no "sympathy" for the Universities which are claiming they are "victims."

Where did I say you should feel bad?

Just stop. Referring to someone as a victim has a natural implication of deserving pity.

I understand what you are saying that by definition in the specific legal case Kansas was a "victim" because you are choosing to look at it purely from a legal system view and not an NCAA or fair play view. The situation is more than a legal system issue. So claiming the victim status is not going to go over very well in any circles outside of KU fandom.

I think KU is a victim just like I would be if my dad stole a bunch of money, bought me a bunch of nice things with that money, then got caught but I didn't have to give anything that he bought me back. I might have known he got the money illegally. I might not. No one can prove it. I certainly benefited from the money. Yet I'm still a victim because my dad didn't tell me it was obtained illegally. Poor me.
