A lot of great NBA players don't retire at 40. Guys can make $500k+ in Europe and Elite players over a million a year. That's great coin for a guy in his 20's/30's.
So what I said was correct

Seems high. What does Matty Ice make?

Exactly. His raw talent is not going to change with one more year of college. Go make some money. The NBA will find you wherever you play.
Seems like Nader, Niang and Morris improved their telent level by playing one more year. Why would you assume Wigginton can't? Every Iowa State player that is currently in the NBA played through their senior year.

Seems to me that Wiggintons goal is to play in the NBA. He is not likely to be drafted this year, so he has two options: Play another year in college or play in the G League. Europe isn’t a typical path to the NBA. It is more of a backup plan.

To me he is better off coming back one year and trying to improve his game. In the G League I think it is harder to separate yourself from everyone else unless you are a 2way player.

G-League only pays something like $35,000 a year. If you don't have the protection being drafted by a team and playing down to get experience, or being a two way player that gets the opportunity to play up with an NBA club, you are just toiling away for pennies. Far better to play overseas, at least there are leagues over there that pay real money and guaranteed contracts.

A guy like Naz might get an NBA shot at some point, but he isn't rolling in dough waiting for the opportunity.

Depends on what you think is rolling in dough, but Naz will probably make about $200k.

I didn't mean to hijack the thread and make it about Naz's earnings with the Jazz. That's his dream and his business. I was just stating that it isn't a cut and dried deal that being in the G-League is better than being at ISU for another season if you don't want to play overseas and still want to showcase yourself for an NBA opportunity.

For the record, I think Lindell would be smart to come back to ISU if he still aspires to that. If he wants to start earning now, I really think it will be in Europe, and he can do very well for himself there.

That’s who’s I always think of. The NBA is obviously the dream but being 25 yo making half a mil per year and living in Valencia Spain isn’t a bad 2nd choice.

BTW, it took me 10 mins to type this. **** these mobile ads.

I feel like European basketball is like a good living but it's not retire at 40 for the rest of your life money

I have a friend that plays in Europe and he said at the rate he’s at that he won’t have to work when he comes back home, if he doesn’t want to.

Housing, food, most transportation, medical, and more are all covered by the teams.

He’s been playing professionally in Europe for 7 years and is hoping for another 5.

I dont think it's a stretch of the imagination whatsoever to think Lindell returns for his junior season averages in excess of 20 ppg and wins Big 12 POY. Do that and at 21 years old he will be a late first round draft pick. That's millions of guaranteed dollars in your pocket.

If it doesnt work out according to plan he cost himself one year of playing G League or overseas.

He always said his dream was to hear his name called and to walk across the stage and shake the commissioners hand. Invest one more year and attack that fridgen dream. Hes far too talented of a player to accept playing overseas.
