Heading to kinnick with my wife. Although I've been there a few times since — the last time she went was '98. They treated her pretty badly and she vowed to never go back. But hey, I finally convinced her to go. I imagine they will treat her the same.

Wear your body cams so we have solid evidence.

My favorite watching with a Hawk fan story. Me and one other Cyclone, Hawk fan #1 (owns the house and a poor sport), Hawk fan #2 (good sport, good dude), five or so other football fans with no rooting interest. 2002 game.

Hawk fan #1 is going on as one might expect an obnoxious Hawk fan to do as we're getting rolled. No rooting interest dudes cheering for Hawks because there is action. Hawk fan #1 gets very angry during second half. No rooting interest dudes swing the Cyclones side due to underdog effect. Final gun goes off - Hawk fan #1 is super angry. Turns the channel to MTV(?) and TAKES THE REMOTE UPSTAIRS. Locks himself in Xbox room.

By the time we've finally figured out how to press the buttons on the cable box to get it back on the game we missed pretty much all of postgame. We stayed and played poker for a few hours, everyone went home. Hawk fan #1 never came downstairs.

I am taking my spouse to the game as it is her birthday present. She graduated from Iowa and will wear a Hawk shirt. but only because she got her degree there. She does not follow the team at all, doesn't know their players, so she is not really a "fan" per se. And other than this game she cheers for ISU and we have season tickets in the Sukup End Zone, so I will be watching with probably the easiest Hawk to get along with.

Calling your wife the easiest Hawk is a pretty mean thing to say.

Waaaaaay back in January I signed up for an organized bike ride for tomorrow. It's 130 miles and 13k feet of elevation gain. Because of this, it starts at 5:30am and will take most of the day. The guy I'm riding with spent a year at TOE before transferring to Milliken. He likes to give me **** despite him not caring all that much. With the game starting at 3pm here, I have every motivation in the world to ride hard, leave him in the dust, and catch part of the game after I'm done.

"No rooting interest dudes" would make a good name for a band. Good story. You mind I ask the age of Hawk fan#1 at the time?

So you'll fit in with a whole bunch of Hawk fans. They are great at cheering along without knowing what they're cheering for. Per se.

Yes I mind! How dare you!

He was 26, +/- a year. Terrible winner, terrible loser. He was actually a lot of fun, but only because we knew it was coming. Strangers thought he was crazy.

One year I did this and vowed never to do it again. It was the Steele Jantz year. A good friend of mine that is a Hawk fan had a little party that turned into a much bigger party. I was the only Iowa State fan there. Made enough of an ass out of myself there are still people I can't quite look in the eye to this day.

Ya did good, kid. Ya did good.
