I think Iowa will struggle with Davidson, not because they are a bad team, but they have struggled to guard the 3 point line. If they advance, I think they have a good chance to upend Gonzaga. Would be a pick em in the 2nd round.
Watching the battle of 7ft un-athletic posts in Woodbury vs Karnowski would be one for the ages though. Enough to make you want to gouge your eyes out... :smile:

If I had 70% chance ISU beats Iowa or 30% chance ISU beats Gonzaga, and Id still take Gonzaga.
I want to see it just so that Jameel would get two opportunities to demolish Softbury as opposed to just one.
I want Iowa to win their first game, but lose their 2nd game while gauging out the eyes of Pangos and Wiltjer. That would be ideal.
I'm not buying that. If that match up were to happen they will have just beaten two good teams. We're obviously a better team now than our first meeting but they will be too. If I lived out of state I'd probably be all over it, but I have to live with too many of them to take the chance. They've underperformed this season but it's a clean slate once the tourney starts and nothing that happened in December matters. If that is who we have to go through to advance then so be it, but I'd much rather avoid it, just because of the downside.
Iowa has not under performed, they just don't have much talent. A lot of people aren't agreeing with me but I think you're crazy if you'd rather play Gonzaga. They are so much more talented than Iowa and it's not even close. I'm not worried about bragging rights in the NCAA tournament when my goal is an Elite 8 or better. Give me the best chance to get there no matter if we've seen the teams before or not
Well, they can see McKay next year and Williams, Cooke, Diallo?, etc, etc...
I think BDJ is fine with not getting his eyes gouged out before he's done with college ball.
I do not want to face a team we've already beaten unless it's final four, period. I do not want to see Iowa in sweet 16. This would be an absolute nightmare scenerio for ISU fans. It's lose/lose other than possibly advancing to elite 8. We played a great game at Iowa and shot lights out. Iowa couldn't hit a barn. Those things rarely repeat during rematches, and that's the problem. Is Iowa good enough to be an Elite 8 team? Hell no, but in a one and done tourney anything is possible. I'll be shocked if they beat Gonzaga as that is a really bad match up for Iowa. As for Davidson I think Iowa beats them. Yes they can shoot the three but they have only one player over 6'8....one player. Next biggest is 6'4 folks. That's not good. Iowa should destroy them inside all day. I see Uthof and AWhite posting up and scoring a lot.

The 5% chance of losing that game makes it no good for me. Losing that game would be my ultimate nightmare.
Plus, I like playing new teams in the tournament regardless of caliber.
Would be the WORST possible outcome. Brings nothing to the table at all, either locally or nationally. Sure, it would be an easy game (and I recognize the irony in this statement) but it's an absolute lose/lose for ISU. Zero upside, we've already beaten them, so why "voluntarily" play them again?
Give me Gonzaga all day long, the way everyone is praising them how would you not LOVE to beat them in the Sweet 16? And then most likely have a shot at Duke in the Elite 8? That would be freaking sweet. Playing Iowa again is a snoozer in every possible scenario.

the only bad apart about facing Iowa would be listening to Iowa fans for a week before Niang shuts them up again. The matchup is as good for ISU as you could hope for in the sweet 16.
I don't get the mentality that says playing an easy opponent to make the Elite Eight is lose/lose. I would rather have an almost-guaranteed pass to the Elite Eight than lose a "sexy" matchup vs Gonzaga. Take off the rivalry glasses--Iowa is a middling Big 10 team. Everyone would jump at playing Purdue in the same instance.
