Which Helmet do you like best?

I like the 76-78 ones look the best, but I also like the 83-86 the special ones particularly. I just like those years because the say Iowa State on them. Not a big fan of just ISU

I like the 83 look the best but still love the 87 cursive "cyclones". It reminds me of when they took out NU in 92'.

Question on the red helmet in the early 80's. Didnt Criner or Walden have the whole team where the yellow helmets and than the the scout team mvp of the week in practice where the red on gameday?? Am I completely off base here?? I also like the early 80's helmets( yellow or red) the best.

Those were a Criner creation. I remember standout players, (and there weren't many), were awarded the red helmets, which I always thought to be rather silly because we were singling out our stars for the oposition, and like I said, we didn't have many. I don't remember scout team players wearing them, but that was a long time ago, so I may be mistaken.

I just really loved the way the team looked against the hawks last fall. Wish we could keep that.

My personal favorite is the gold one from ’83-‘86. The logo on the helmet let’s people know we’re the Cyclones – good, unique, brand. This would be a good post to do as a survey.

The 76-78 helmet is the best helmet ever for ISU. Hands down, no contest.

The current I-state is "okay", but just "okay".

Someday, the powers that be will gain some sense and go back to the "real" ISU helmet.
