When was the last time you wore a tie?

For weddings I never wear a tie unless in the wedding party. Usually skip the suit/sport jacket too. A tie would be off or loose after so many drinks so what's the point.
Depends where you are going to a wedding and what type of crowd it is. I went to a wedding once in Chicago and I was the only one that didn't have a coat and tie. I try to get a better read on the situation now.

The tie, I always thought you took your pants off after a couple drinks. Explains some stares from men and smiles from the women.
That's for the after after party or closet with one of the single bridesmaids.

My BIL got married and it was at one of those barn venues in July. They made it clear in the invitation that they wanted everyone to dress comfortably. My son and I got matching Hawai'ian shirts for the occasion.

Goes for funerals too. Had an employee fighting cancer and was out of work for like 18 months. When he went a bunch of us managers went to the funeral. We all dressed in dresses/suits & ties not knowing that he and his wife had asked that people come in hawai'ian shirts so we stuck out like sore thumbs.

Really?

When I see a guy wearing jeans and sport coat (usually on a flight) I think of a guy trying to look important but really isn't. I laugh every time I see that look.
Maybe in some circumstances, but in my experience Blazer and jeans is a "CEO/CFO/CIO who wants to look approachable" look, especially post COVID.

Were they dunks? It seems people now consider them dress shoes.
I saw a professional firm order custom colored dunks. I'm not mad about that one, kind of jealous I didn't think of it.

You might have felt conspicuous, but it showed that you guys all cared and appreciated him.
Not quite the same but sort of a friend got married out in Nebraska, big traditional Catholic wedding. Probably 7 to 10 of us Methodists in the back wedding goes along we are just along for the ride, get to the Lords Prayer, hey we can do this we jump right in, none of us knew the Catholics didn't say the last couple lines, we finished it for them (couldn't get stopped in time Oops)

No one is stopping you from dressing up and heading to Fareway.

You have a chance to really class this place up! Take it!
I've had to stop at Dollar Tree on the way to visitations to grab a card, khakis and a button down are way above average there.

How many suits do people own? I literally don’t have one and haven’t for probably a decade.
I own 8 but I used to have to wear a suit and tie everyday for work but that ended after Covid.

I loved wearing a suit and tie everyday. Now I sit at my desk wearing a company golf polo, jeans, and Cole Haans, so i can’t complains

I do think the dress code for most jobs have become a little too relaxed but also depends on the job.

What I can’t stand is how relaxed some wedding attire is at times. When I go to a wedding and 90% of the guests are wearing a combination of a suit/blazer no tie/at minimum decent dress shirt and slacks and there’s a handful of people wearing jeans, hey dudes, and a casual shirt it makes my skin crawl. Have a little respect for yourself and the people who invited you to their wedding.
