when did it become acceptable to leave a 3 pt game with 22 seconds left? or a 6 pt game with 330 left?

this is just pathetic. the weather was no different 20 minutes later. why come to the game if youre just going to leave for the most important part... momentum can swing games, but if the crowd is suddenly half the size, hows that going to create a winning atmosphere? i think cyclone fans are better than that...

If you leave with time left on the clock to "beat the rush" then you're not a true fan.

My guess is that people use the tickets in anyway they feel that benefits their own self interest due to the fact they invested their time, money and effort into it....they will use it how they like....

It is something that has bothered me for years in all events I go to at ISU. I live about 82 miles from Ames and we don't leave early for anything. The fans need to correct this treatment towards our students. NO EXCEPTION ISU FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean the students all got up and left early???

What?? What's that you say?? The old timers who "know what Hilton should be like" started to leave from the Parquet at the 3:30 mark?

That's funny, if you read any of the other 4 game threads here you would swear they were standing and screaming the whole game.

What a joke this board is sometimes when it comes to students and whether they are "loud enough" or not. A lot of these kids were in Elementary or Junior High the last time we were relevant.

I totally agree with the OP. How would ya'll feel if that last 3:30 the 5 on the floor just packed it up and quit?? Same concept, its a team effort out there. It rarely happens elsewhere. Whether you leave 20 mins early or not, it will still take the same amount of time to leave Hilton Coliseum. Same thing happened against Texas, players are walking off looking at a 2/3rds empty arena. Thats what is pathetic about this whole deal....

Win some games and the students will be crazy, not the other way around. Some of you (not all, but some) people around here need to grow up.

End rant.

It irritates me and you aren't a great fan if you do that crap. Just my opinion.

I personally pay a lot of money to attend those games. For the most part, the players try to win and play hard. I think I owe it to them and to myself to stay until the end of the game.

I've never left a sporting event early.

In my case it's called leaving my ***** balcony seat to come down and see the remaining minutes watching from a better view.

That blizzard was a little rough to drive in tonight. I should have left when we were down four at the 12 minute timeout.

I gotta say that we left early. Sorry, we had a two hour drive in sketchy weather with a four year old that was starting to get cranky because it was past her bedtime. Normally, I wouldn't leave just to beat traffic, but we didn't really want to wait in the parking lot for a half hour.

When did it become acceptable to yell and rip the players and ruin the entire game for everyone around you? Does anyone else have to deal with a person like this who sits around them?

This is without a doubt my biggest pet peeve about the atmosphere at Hilton.

'Hey, they're playing our school's fight song! Just remembered I need to save 8 minutes in the parking lot so I can catch another Big Band Theory rerun.'

Last night the ushers held back the crowd in the balcony so the flag guy wouldn't run into them. I couldn't help myself. I turned to the guy standing next to me who was ready to leave and said: 'you do realize there three and half minutes left in the game right?'. He just stared out into the distance. Probably dreaming about the all great things he will now be able to do in his life with the extra 10 minutes he saved by ditching his team.

Leaving a close game before the end is no different then leaving a movie when the major twist is about to be revealed.

I have a 3 y.o. and a 1 y.o. We leave every game with 2-3 minutes on the clock. If it were me solo, I would stay until the final buzzer. However, some people have cirumstances that don't give a ton of options. I know the family has been ready to leave since the half. They know I hate missing any portion of the game. COmpromise.
Once they get older, it will be in until the game is done.
Football, I have left two games before the final tick. Utah (and judging by the stands, I left after most of you):)
At Iowa last season. That was solely due to surrounding fans. Don't question loyalties if they are leaving early. You don't know every situation.

I can't blame elderly people when they do it, just because some are not real stable, and the crowd rushing probably jostles them. Everyone else should be sticking around.

When you start buying everyone's tickets, then you can tell everyone when they can leave. Until then, it doesn't really matter.
