To me, the thing that stinks is how noticable it is. Seems like the expensive coartside seats are the ones that empy the quickest. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if only the balconies jumped ship.

It looks horrible on TV. It literally looks like we were losing by 30. Noone can talk smack about Carver Hawkeye if we can't stick around to watch a few more minutes of a hotly contested game at Hilton.

I'm curious just how much time is saved by leaving with 33 seconds left.

I really want the student section moved to the courtside seats. It would make our fanbase look much rowdier on TV.

I do really like when schools do this. Put the real fans who actually cheer and stay through the whole game in the prime seating. Fact of the matter is that there is no way students will pay the $ for them. I just wish the fans in those areas were more loyal and supporting. You have to have trouble calling yourself a true fan when you sit on your *** all game, except to heckle a ref after a questionable call or after a dunk for the following defensive possession only, PLUS leave early. I'm not sorry if I offend anyone with this post because that is exactly how you should feel. Offended. I'm calling you out here

when did it become acceptable to leave a 3 pt game with 22 seconds left? or a 6 pt game with 330 left?

this is just pathetic. the weather was no different 20 minutes later. why come to the game if youre just going to leave for the most important part... momentum can swing games, but if the crowd is suddenly half the size, hows that going to create a winning atmosphere? i think cyclone fans are better than that...

When did it become acceptable to stick your nose in other peoples business?

"I get so angry when people in completely different situations and with completely different thought processes do something different than I would. How dare they spend their free time and their money how they please."

You sound like an egocentric idiot.

For those of you that complain about standing too much, not standing enough, cheering not loud enough, student sections, whatever else you can possibly think of to cry about, give everyone with a sane mind a break and just ******* drop it. I understand that message boards bring out the fringe psychotics, but come on, just let people enjoy the game how they want to enjoy it without being e-ridiculed by a bunch of people with too much damn time on their hands.

As another poster stated this happens to almost all our teams. As someone who has season tickets (but not in the choice seats) it bothers me when you see people leaving early just to get out of the lot early. If getting a jump on traffic is more important than the game stay home and let someone who cares buy the tickets because in person or on TV it looks bad when they pan the crowd with 3-5 minutes left and great seats are empty.

Yes, I'm prepared to get lambasted because I wasn't able to be at the game last night. However, I am curious to hear from those at the game what the noise level was like when inside a minute, only down by three (ONE POSSESSION) and Misery was going to the line to shoot 1 and 1. On TV I honestly couldn't hear any crowd noise until the shooter actually had the ball in his hands. In addition, the people you could see behind the shooter didn't appear to be doing anything until the shooter had the ball. I was going crazy on my couch. Why wasn't the crowd going crazy before that trying to get in his head, trying to remind him of the gravity of those free throws, trying to make the building shake, trying to disrupt Haith's instructions to his team? It is a little late after he has the ball in his hands.

Compare that to the video posted yesterday of the Okie State game with Alexander going to the FT line (a career 90% FT shooter) shooting two, with one to tie it and two to win it with practically no time on the clock. Then tell me that the old timers are just making it up and Hilton Magic is no different now than it was then. And no, I'm not blaming the students and I'm not blaming the old fogies - I'm blaming all of us. When I try to do exactly what we used to do at Hilton now and I get derided by those around me as "superfan" or too loud. Yes, I am guilty of sometimes letting those attitudes tame my behavior. I guess it will never be the same.

By the way, the building shaking is not something I made up. Players on the floor at the Okie State game said they could feel the floor and see the basket shake while Alexander was trying to shoot those free throws.

Flame away...

+1 Velo!! Thats a great post.

Its a team effort and EVERYONE needs to pitch in to get it back.

I think next Wednesday all of us CFers need to wear yellow and stand the whole game, no matter what section we are in. Maybe we could set an example for others. They wont kick us out. I'll join in from section 238. I dont really like the negative ******* that sits behind me anyway!!

Just a thought.

I'm on the fence with a lot of this argument.

I too am a frugal person....but I do think what you do with your money is up to you. If you donate big bucks and stay...great...if you need to leave for whatever reason (kids, beat traffic, long drive, other commitments, etc) that's up to you. My counter argument would be, why do "fans" on here sell their tickets? If they REALLY cared, they could give them to a "true fan" that will be loud, etc. (that is part sarcastic...I recognize folks want to recoup some money, etc) I also think, had we pulled of a "W" last night, those who left early are left telling the story of how they missed one of our biggest wins. I've met folks who left at halftime of the Okie State fb game because "it was cold and we were getting whooped" and look at what they missed?

Obviously fans who invest time on a message board are in some ways "above average" in terms of being a fan. For some that are quick to call out fans, I always wonder if they go to some of the other Cyclone sports? Again, just pointing out there is no definition of what a "perfect fan" is...heck, some of those high rollers who choose to leave early have probably donated enough to make a HUGE impact on the athletic department.

Like anything else, opinions are like a certain part of the body...we all have one. :twitcy:

It kind of reminds me of "that guy" we all know...when you mention you enjoy the new (insert band here) album, they are quick to mention how that bad has sold out and make you feel bad because you don't own the rare, bootlegged recording that was released to members only on that bands website....can't you just like something without it becoming a "who's better" competition?

Ok, I understand that you give "big bucks" and I appreciate that. But why would you pay big bucks just to leave a game we could still win?

If I payed $50 to watch a movie, I'm not leaving right before the big climax.

It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me and others here.

Can you shed some light on it for us?

Who said I left early. I didn't! I just hate being told, what to do and when. I don't have to live up to your version of right and wrong.

Not exactly sure.
If that's what they want to do it's their choice. They are probably not the vocal ones anyhow. I sit by a guy during football games that leaves at the end of the 3rd quarter everytime. He missed half the Iowa game. I only go during HUGE blowouts if the whole family is with me, basically wife I guess - kids I stay.

This.

I can't believe that people are that concerned about saving a few minutes. My worst experiences getting out of the Hilton parking lot were still better than my best days of trying to leave events in Chicago. It is Ames, Iowa people. Watch the game. Support our team right to the end. It may make a difference.

Exhibit A: Nov 18, 2011!
