Across the board in College Basketball I've seen more charges called this year than in all other years combined. Was the charge one of their "focuses" this off-season or is the half circle just messing everything up?

FWIW - I have used the technical in HS for flopping. I have also used a call that is used too seldom - a double foul - foul on both players - typically in the low post. It does what it's intended to do - clean up play pretty quick.
IMHO - cracking down on offensive players jumping into defenders and "creating space" is LONG overdue.
