Really? I much preferred season 2 to season 3. Reacher sucks at being undercover, so the whole season felt awkward. The countless tactical and procedural blunders by him and the DEA agents were just baffling. And FFS, no one cares about Teresa.
Tom Cruise nailed the character better than Ritchson, outside of his size. The series was hindered by Ritchson's wooden performance, the senseless plot, a terrible New England accent by the female lead, and horribly written dialogue. Other than that it's top notch content compared to most of the rest of what's available on Prime.

I just thought the ending of Season 2 was stupid and soured my opinion of the entire season. I was really excited to see the final fight happen in Season 3 though I thought Anthony Michael Hall was horrible. Regardless Season 1 was great and it has been downhill since. At least the dialogue has been better in the show than in the books. Good god Child cannot write dialogue.

Edit - I could be suffering from recency bias since it has been some time since I watched Season 2.

The ending of all the seasons certainly feel like we ventured heavily into 80s/90s action flick territory. But considering the source material and the target audience of those books, it's not really all that surprising.

That accent almost made me stop in the 1st episode. The season was meh, at best.
The dialogue is stupid.

1883 and 1923 are pretty good. Not great. Both better than Yellowstone IMO. Probably because they were shorter. Everybody is getting killed off pretty fast in season 2 of 1923.
I am struggling to get through 1883. I like the characters ok, but the pace of the story seems slow. I personally liked Yellowstone better.

My biggest criticism of many series on Prime, Netflix, etc is they have the story/writing for an entertaining 4 episodes but the standard is 8-10. I'm sure $ drive it.

Remember when the standard was 20+ episodes? Seems like our attention span is getting shorter. Ha! But I agree, if its a story that can be told in about 4 - 6 episodes, just make a movie.

That's kind of what he's done for the second season of 1923. The first six episodes have been pretty slow and now there's a ton to tie up in the finale. Even if the finale is over two hours like they're saying it is, there's still a lot.

But even on those 20+ there were plenty of just filler episodes.

This is still the side effects studios going cheap on writers and it's one of the big reasons the writers went on strike a while back. A lot of these streamers basically had writers turn in scripts and there were almost no rewrites done as they didn't want to pay them any extra. I'm hoping we're going to be moving out of this era soon.

In most cases, each of the 26 weekly episodes was standalone. Off the top of my head, the first TV series that I recall having a season-long story line was 24.

I hope producers figure out they can have multiple story lines in an 8-10 episode season.

Anyone watch Maddening on Netflix. I have two episodes left. It isn’t too bad once it gets rolling.

Funny thing about that. I was watching an episode and my wife walked through the room. She stopped and asked "what the hell kind of accent is that supposed to be?"

A Brit trying to do a Noreasterner accent. Not one they are very good at apparently.

It's not her fault...why even bother with that accent? And, if they felt it was necessary, why not hire somebody who can do it? It makes zero sense.

Did the kid do it? I know at the end he ultimately told his dad he was changing his plea... great. So then WHY did he do it? The only thing we were told as viewers is that there were ultimately some emojis used to intimate that the kid was being labled an incel. So that was it? Emojis? If there was more to it then what more was there. There was just entirely too little meat on the bone. If the point was that it takes nothing to set off an adolescent kid then make that case, which wasn't done. It was just sloppy and incomplete.
If you thought it was just about some teasing and emoji’s…. you missed the point. A lot more involved.

I thought it was really good, and glad they left a lot up to the viewer to think about in the end instead of tying everything up.

I thought the accent and dialogue of Duffy were funny. Maybe it’s because I know quite a few people from Boston.
