Except for those that live in CR since we are not allowed to have a casino. Not driving an hour to place a bet. They will need to figure out the online side of it to make money. If it is casino only - they would probably only see 20% of the potential money

Round of applause to those who took sports gambling, a subject that most posters on here would love to see, and instead of making this a fun thread about seeing it get passed, turned it into a political bashing.

Why have a fun time talking about something we can all like and instead talk political parties!?

Well it certainly plays a part in it given how state laws are created, no?

I would like to see Prairie Meadows have an app that you can bet on. They still get the tax revenue and you could bet from anywhere. Maybe that's in the plans?

My initial thought is maybe this would open up the opportunity for CR to get one.

From what I have read they are looking into doing an App but you have to deposit and withdraw your money from it in person at Prairie meadows

I know they are trying to have them in casinos only but since they are so few and far between - I would hope they allow stand alone sports books to be opened. New Jersey that was previously mentioned has a massive Fanduel Superbook that (to my knowledge) is just a massive bar/restaurant/sports book.

I can't wait. Just got back from Vegas and it makes even boring games interesting when you have money on it. On a side note, Iowa also needs to legalize weed. It's amazing the number of places they already have up and running.

This is what I'm most excited about. I don't ever see myself dropping real money on a game, but when I'd love to throw a little money on a random MLB day game to help me get through a boring day of work.

Probably helped that I won both times I bet. I bet on KU beating TCU (TCU was favored) and Baylor winning by more than 3.5 over OU. I only spent $40 and that took up 3 hours of my time. I could have spent $40 in the slots in 20 minutes.

Hopefully they go all out at Prairie Meadows with this sports book, it could be really popular.

Meadows is already building a sportsbook room. I dont think they start that project without feeling pretty good something being passed this year.

Riverside's remodel has a room that will be converted when this thing is a go.

I've never bet on any sporting events...but am willing to learn! :)

You should really learn before this goes live in Iowa. As a gesture of kindness, I'm willing to take your bets so you can learn and be ready to go before it all happens. You'll be ahead of the game. You let me know what you want to gamble on and how much and I'll teach you along the way.
