Anyone have recommendations on what to do in Houston? A group of us guys are heading there this week and looking for some good restaurants and night life. Thanks in advance for advice.

Personally, I would hit a nice seafood joint while you're down there. Still the only place I tried alligator at.

What sorts of things are you interested in, what area of Houston, and how long are you staying (just for the week, for the weekend, etc)?

Main street downtown Houston is fun. Just make sure to bring nice shoes, not gonna get in anywhere with just tennis shoes. Also bring some money because it is more upscale than most areas. For a good steak go to any Saltgrass steak house. If you are going later in the spring, get some crawfish while they are in season, can't beat it. Obviously all the pro sports teams in the area, check out the verizon center for any concerts. North Houston, in the Woodlands, has an outdoor pavillion that has some good concerts. Not sure when concert season will start. Let me know if you have any other questions, I lived there for 3 1/2 years.

Well, the only Houston advice I can give you is to stay in the hotel we did on New Year's when we went to our last bowl game. The Houston Area Swinger's Club was having their party there. Three floors of crazy naked freaks.

Craw fish is in season!! Get some the moment you get into town!
Also look up Saint Arnold brewery. They have a nice little tour that is cheap and you get plenty of samples of some amazing beer.
The comedy clubs always have some good show going on.
Rockets games are not bad.
If the Aeros are in town and you like hockey it's a great show for the price.
Museum district has some very cool exibits about the human body right now.
Two-Rows bar is great!
The Flying Saucer bar is great - waitresses always have some cute school girl outfits on
This list just goes on and on....

(EDIT: this needs to be added. If you're up in the NE area, of Humble/ Atascocita you have to go to Tin Roof BBQ by Wal-Mart. Amazing food and some nights live music.... usually country which isn't my thing but it goes well with outdoor bbq.

We are leaving this Thursday and coming back on Monday. We are staying in the woodlands area. I know we are going to a rodeo one day and one night be in the Rice University area.

Sweet. Just jump on 45 and you can go straight to down town or all the way down to Galveston.

I second the Flying Saucer. Great waitresses, and they have just about every beer made on the planet. This was our starting point every night when we were in town for the Houston Bowl. It's also a little more casual than most places.

The rodeo should be a blast. Rice village is a nice place for a night out. I've highlighted one of the reasons I was asking about time of week, if you're in town on Saturday, the St. Arnolds tour is a great idea. First-come-first-serve, it starts at 1 p.m. Get in early, bring yourself a lunch, you pay $5 for entry and four beers or so, then you can spend another $5 or so to upgrade to a bigger pint glass to get a little more beer for your buck.

Saint Arnold: Brewery Tours

Head over to the Saucer afterwards for a day FULL of beer. Awesome.

Other than that...yeah. Crawfish are in season, you can find some good ones just about anywhere. If you venture to the southeast side, you can check out Kemah, Galveston (both are still sort of rebuilding from Ike) and JSC.
