What is your experience-Tempur-Pedic, foam, vs "regular" mattress?

My wife and I have a Sleep Number and I will never go back. She loves a soft bed and I love a rock hard bed. It's the best of both worlds.

Nope, every one that I have tried is so soft that when my butt hits the bed, I spring back up and say "**** that"

You can get a 4x8 sheet of plywood at Lowe's for <$20. Or if you have the cash, get a nicer grade, maybe hardwood for a few more $$$. You deserve it :jimlad:

I have a pillowtop matress, it's pretty great. My matress and my pillow are two of the more expensive things I own. I'm spending a 3rd of my life on it.

Same here. I actually bought a 1200 dollar pillowtop beautyrest mattress in 2010 from Slumberland in Ankeny. Was the softest one they had. First week of it I hated it. Felt way too soft and squishy. Then - it started to grow on me. Now, I love it. If I travel for business or whatever, I look forward to sleeping in that bed like a mofo.

I use a mattress that was next to a dumpster. It's a Sealy I think. #collegelife

Best part is since mattresses are two sided you don't HAVE to sleep on the blood and urine stained side.

Exactly, it's a personal preference

Wow..This made me bust out laughing in my cubicle...people stared...good stuff!

I second(third or fourth) making babies on a TempurPedic is no good... think quicksand...

Some hotel beds have great spring reaction for doing that. Check it out.

I have to add a recommendation for a SleepNumber. I like a firm mattress and my wife likes soft - we both get what we want. It's air chambers so it conforms to your body, and there's nothing to break down so you don't get soft spots. The only downside is that there is a firm (not hard, but noticable) ridge down the center of the bed. But it helps keep the wife, who is an "active sleeper," from encroaching on my side overnight. The entire bed deflates and the box spring can be broken down into small/flat pieces for moving.

This reminds me too much of sleeping on those inflatable mattresses that were far from comfortable.

It's not at all like that. Inside the air-bladders are a lot of small air chambers so you never "bottom out" like an air mattress. The the two bladders and piece of foam that seperates them are zipped into a big, formed "case" so it looks just like a regular mattress if you don't have a mattress pad on it. It feels just like a regular bed. If it slept like an air mattress meant for camping or putting on your living room floor for sleepovers, I'd have said so.
