Sure, here you go...

Thanks huntt26... This would be a simple upgrade to our road uni's- just add white pants. Have the stripes match the jersey's stripes. I think this would look even more impressive in real life and differentiate us from usc a little more. Also a throwback to our all white away uni's under coach mac.

is this official or are we just debating?
why would they even have them if they weren't going to wear them? we will see these this fall
This is just the equipment guys messing around. This will not be used in games.

Cybyassociation- I can back you up on this.... Being in the business, I would assume that there is no smoke or fire here. I can only assume because I am not at ISU. Equipment managers love to mess with different "concept" helmets- stuff that will never be used. I know for a fact that there was, and maybe still could be, a helmet in the equipment room with the style that was just changed with the spinning Cy put on a blue helmet.

Where I currently work we have 4 concept helmets that will probably never-ever be used. With the resources that are available to equipment guys it is just fun to mess with things like this.

I would think, though, at some point the players would motivate the staff to let it go for a game or something. Isn't that how the yellows came about?

I hate the white helmets, and I also dislike the gold jerseys.

There....I said it. Raise the pitchforks and fire up the torches! I am completely happy with the current color scheme. The current road uni schemes are as good as it gets. There's nothing goofy looking with the current style. There's nothing gimmicky either. Nice and traditional 2 color set up.

And to whoever said that ISU should wear plain white pants like Texas does....go find a steep cliff to jump off. Those remind me of damn ballerina pants. BALLERINA PANTS! Seriously put tutu's on the longhorn players and you'd never know the difference.

Now that i'm done spewing disgust towards all of my Cy-fan brothers.....I'm going to bed. And sleeping well.

Your Caucasian-hating, homophobic rant is noted.

I know this is in black and white, but these "yellow" helmets were my fav. Wish we had em' back. Love how the word "Cyclones" were on them. Not many teams go that route. Only Florida and Maryland off the top of my head and they are sharp helmets for both schools..... again, could be a great look for us again, that is, to use yellow caps again (for special games) with the I-State logo though.

Those were the worse years of Cyclone Football. We will never see those again.

I'm not a white-helmet fan, although the logo does look sharp against that background. I'd be wary of it as an alternate, especially on the road, where white is likely to dominate (to match helmets & pants) and drown out any true secondary gold, with exception of the I-State logo itself.

But it could be done. (Gold pants-haters will loathe it)

except the casual fan glancing at ESPN highlights won't even recognize it as ISU. Sorry to say it, but it does look like USC, especially to people not familiar with ISU.

I like the white.

For everyone who "hates" the alternates and changing colors. Keep in mind that 16-18 yr old kids may have a different mindset than you. They see the Oregons of the world with multiple different uni combo's and they love it.

I am fine with our current design but I am NOT opposed to having a few different options for "Big" games. Lots of other schools do it and the argument about the casual fan not recognizing us is weak. If you are outside of the big 12 most people probably dont recognize us anyway

First off, these white helmets look amazing. If they aren't going to be used, that's a shame. Secondly, for people arguing that white isn't one of our colors, just like blue wasn't...that's dumb. We were TRYING to incorporate blue, which was ridiculous. White is a neutral color, every team has to wear it. It's not an official color of Okie State, TAMU, Auburn, Arizona, or many other schools. But they have white helmets, or at least alternate white helmets, and they all look great, especially Arizona I might add.

For the record, I kinda like the white helmets, wouldn't mind them. However, to use OKST, TAMU, Auburn, or Texas like someone else did to refute the argument against using white helmets is missing a detail. OKST, Auburn, and Texas all have a gawdawful shade of orange in their color scheme. A 300+ lineman in a gigantic orange jersey and/or helmet would be HAARRRDDD on the eyes. I'd say the same for TAMU, since they really only have one primary color: Aggie Moron...er...maroon. The grey is an accent color. Arizona has a big old swath of white right in their logo. So, with our Cardinal and Gold, I don't think it's a valid comparison. Those schools almost have to use a base color of something else, we wouldn't have to.

You're right about white being neutral (rather than added).

As I've posted, before, the difficulty white for schools whose secondary color is not white — how much the secondary gets lost in the shuffle.

Obviously white has to be used for traditional road jerseys. So if the team also uses a white helmet, there are few places to use the secondary (because you're probably using the main color for numbers/player names/striping). Add white pants, too ...

Teams whose secondary is already white, none of this is an issue. You could go all white, with only a logo, numbers and stripes using the primary, and it doesn't negate the school colors.

Oregon is an example. I like its school colors, and a lot of the alternate color schemes, but that all-white that uses only the green, no yellow — might as well be Tulane or Marshall. South Florida has done something similar with alternates, I think.

Michigan is the reverse example. U-M kept the same look for — well, seemingly forever, so continuity has brought identity. But it also has stuck to maize-and-blue. I'm not a big fan of Michigan's helmets (other than its historical aspect) but the home football uniform package is killer. And I don't think there's white on it anywhere (other than maybe accessories like chinstraps, socks...) So ... and for road games, nothing changes except the required white jersey.

(This wasn't directed at your post specifically, just a response to an overall theme you mentioned).
