What is the hook thing that controls the sink stopper? Mine broke and I'm trying to find a replacement part but I don't know what it's called. It's the thing the guy in this video removes at the 2:07 mark of the video:

I think you're talking about the pivot rod.
Mine is a different type of assembly that doesn't use the ball/pivot rod.
Are you sure it isn't the doo-hickey?

Take the broken parts to the hardware store and wander around the plumbing department until somebody comes to help you.

You could go to a big box and get one but I'd just ask to use your neighbor's bathroom and you may happen to locate one while in there.

Our sink wasn't holding water to I took ours apart. Wowsers!! I thought I had found the missing link. Had more long hair on the pivot rod than what is on my head. Took the pivot rod out and put a little WD40 on the ball, cleaned the tube out along with the stopper and the sink holds water again.
Sometimes it is just better to replace the whole trap assembly if everything starts getting corroded and nasty. Probably $10-15.
...so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented.
