see johnny majors. ISU is not a good indicator of success. hell probably the only coach who left here with a winning record was "pop" warner at 18-8.

I, for one, am not mad that he left. I am more mad at how he left.

Winning coach you say...actually it was Earle Bruce @ 36-32!!!

Is why people are so mad at Chizik for leaving. Trust me, I love my job and work hard everyday, but if the Chicago Cubs asked me to work for them I would be gone in a split second.

Auburn vs ISU for a football HC job. Hmmmm. You would have to be an idiot to not take that job. Im happy for coach Chizik. Sounds like he got his dream job.

All I ask of our coaches is that they work hard as they can while HC of our programs.

I loved the GC hire. Hated the results of the last two years but was willing to give it more time. Now, what is done is done. The man got a pay raise at a top 25 program. Congratulations to him. Hopefully the next head coach can produce something that has always been in short supply in Ames --- WINS.

I have no problem with GC going to his dream job. I am completely baffled why Auburn would take a chance on hime, but that is their problem now. What I don't like is him gutting the ISU program on the way out of town. If he was the great Christian guy that we have been told, he would be telling the ISU player to honor their commitments to ISU.

I think that the people that should truly be upset about this development are Coach Peterson and Rainey, whose reputation he damaged for really no good reason.

I don't get it either. It is possible that when he said those things he meant it and he was being honest at least in the present sense. (everyone honest with themselves knew he was a ladder climber and wasn't going to stay 15 years, those that missed it during the hire no matter what he said publicly were fooling themselves). Someone with more time than me can come up with the timeline in terms of when he said what and when tuberville was fired etc. I can tell you from personal experience I was very happy at a job, and boom out of the blue I got a call to come in and "talk" with another company. 2 meetings adn 5 days later I have an offer for a job that it's a lot closer to my dream job than the then current really good enjoyable job I had. Does that mean that I lied to my boss when I told them two days before that fateful call things were "great?"

Now mind I don't think that it happened that way. I think it's likely that he told the OSU assistant it was a mistake to take the ISU job. I think it's likely he put out the back channel word that he was looking. I think he likely told us all what every coach says in situations like that. "I'm the coach at the University of Buffalo." I think he played us, and we were all willing to be played for 3-5 years in return for a couple bowl games. problem is we got played for 5 wins in two years and he got a 100% raise, and left us holding the bag.

Any Clone Fan who thought that Chizik was going to stay more than 3 years has got Rocks In His Head!!!

Chizik was looking for a way out of Ames after the first season...You know that little diatribe of his in Stillwater? It revealed his true feelings about ISU and Clone Fans!!!

I for one am extremely happy that this unqualified head coach has left Ames For Good!!!

Good bye Gene CyBobby wont miss ya for one minute!!

Lets replace this disaster with Gary Patterson and finally win the north and then I can finally go to the big 12 champ game!:yes:

At least WE didn't have to BUY HIM OUT to get him to leave. Auburn did us a great favor. In a year or two, people across the country won't consider ISU a laughing stock. Auburn will have replaced us in that conversation. Priceless.

What a win-win situation!

And his firing, if it would have happened, doesn't turn out to be a divisive thing for the fanbase. This is a real uniting thing for us.

He united two fanbases at one time. Nice job, Gene!
