What Big XII school has the smallest fanbase?

I was reading the comments @ the bottom of the ESPN blog regarding the ABC game times for a good laugh. However, one of them got me thinking. It said that ISU and OK State probably had the smallest fanbases in the conference. I doubt that's true, but it did make me think. What are the fanbase sizes? I know that there are tons of variables but I'd have to think that Texas and Oklahoma reign king while Baylor (the only private school in the conference) and maybe K State are at the bottom. Schools like Mizzou and Nebby are the only big state school so they draw most of the state population, but in Nebby's case, that doesn't mean much.

Here's my guesses.... feel free to comment/ make your own:

1. Texas
2. Oklahoma
3. aTm
4. Mizzou
5. Kansas
6. sCUm
7. Nebby
8. Texas Tech
9. Iowa State
10. Okie State
11. Kansas State
12. Baylor

Again, this is just my guess and fanbase size certainly doesn't mean dedication. Example... Kansas (which gets a large portion of Kansas City fans... along with Mizzou) can't fill it's stadium w/ a ranked team but ISU has filled the Jack over the last few lean years.... FWIW.

I think ISU has a larger fanbase than KSU. Maybe in Western Kansas or something they have a lot of fans (but nobody lives out there). They are a distant 3rd in the KC area behind Kansas and Missouri, I think we probably have them beat.

I can almost guarantee you that its Baylor by a mile!!!!

We were listening to the nu-baylor game on the drive over to college station when the nebbie radio announcer said that without the husker fans the stadium would be nearly empty!!!!

Baylor would kill for our fanbase and our attendance at football games this year...er heck any year!!!!!

Think of it this way...

baylor attendance.. ISU attendance..

I think CU is actually much smaller than ISU. Think about it. Smaller stadium, smaller arena, yet they are in a larger population base than ISU to draw from. TT and KState have about the same base, TT a little more. Nebraska I would put way ahead of Missouri and not just because they have a bigger stadium. Nebraksa has fans all over the nation from when they were the powerhouse team back in the 90's. MU has had some good years lately, but they haven't been able to become the powerhouse that NU was.

Texas
Nebraska
Oklahoma
Kansas
A&M
Missouri
Oklahoma State
Iowa State
Texas Tech
Colorado
Kansas State
Baylor

ISU has a very large fan base for as poor as we have played at times.

I'd have to agree with this list. I've lived all over the U.S. and have always been amazed how many ISU fans I run across. One thing's for sure though, you'll not find many fan bases with better sportmanship than Iowa State.

Here is my Guess, Good Start:

TOP 4:
1. Texas
2. Oklahoma
3. Texas AM
4. NU - Picked up a lot of Fans from the 90's

MIDDLE 4: Big Drop after NU.
5. Mizzou
6. KSU
7. Texas Tech
8. KU

BOTTOM 4:
9. Okie State - most people in OK are OU fans
10. Iowa State - Loyal Fans, need more of them
11. CU - too much to do in Denver if CU stinks
12. Baylor

How can anyone rank KU's fan base ahead of ISU's? They average only slightly more than we do, and that's only because they win a lot more. No way do the Jayhawks have a larger fan base than us. If they had gone 5-19 the last two years, it would be a ghost town on football Saturdays in Lawrence.

I guess if you're just talking about football, but KU probably has the biggest basketball fan base.

I was curious about the enrollment numbers, so here's what they are on wikipedia:

Baylor University 13,886
Oklahoma State 23,307
University of Nebraska 23,573
Kansas State University 23,581
Iowa State University 27,945
University of Oklahoma 29,721
University of Kansas 30,004
Texas Tech University 30,049
University of Colorado 30,128
University of Missouri 30,831
Texas A&M University 48,039
University of Texas 49,696

I didn't realize how similar they all were except for Texas, A&M, and Baylor.

To put it in context, UNI is about Baylor's size. Wow.
