Why do you say that? I know nothing about this process or this group of people.
It’s more a reaction to the committee as well as above thread posting where the legislature changed the law to essentially make it solely a Board of Regents decision as to who the finalists are, who to bring on campus, etc. In the past, committees would conduct interviews, bring the finalists on campus and recommend a name to the Regents. Past committees have been cross functional and included Deans, multiple professors and community members- the one that chose President Wintersteen consisted of 18 members including faculty from each college and the community at large. While I’m glad they have some representation they’ve had in the past such as the GSB president and Graduate Senate President are still present, I just have no confidence in a Reynolds appointed board to make a decision in the best interest of the university.

I would be okay with a larger committee bringing a roster of finalists to the Regents to choose, but with the Regents having all of the say from the very beginning (this committee only has Regents as voting members if I read the law correctly) it puts the entire decision making process in a very few appointed hands.

If you knew some of these people, i think you would change your mind.

The only negative I have with the list is that it is too big. Great list and great people.

That’s fair, and I hope to be proven wrong. I freely admit I’m pretty jaded with the world the way it is today when it comes to anything related to current events/politics

Bring back VEISHEA
Serious question, I graduated in 2015 and really felt no difference in terms of how many non-ISU friends were in town that week in 2015 compared to 2014. Is that week still not at least somewhat similar to in the past with a ton of non-ISU college aged kids flooding into Ames?
