Have you ever broken your wrist? In all seriousness my dad broke his wrist and never got it set properly, so he has bone spurs and its starting to give him issues. He's gonna have to get surgery on it.

I got spiked playing 2nd base during junior year of high school and broke it, it's not a sharp pain like you'd associate with most broken bones. Kind of an ache with occasional bursts of pain and it swelled up pretty nice. I didn't know till i got it checked out by a trainer.

Cycl1 I've noticed the exact same problem doing pushups. Don't have a problem on the bench really though or on knuckles, probably because the wrists aren't bent back as much. My solution is stop doing pushups for a while.

If it hurts, don't do it.

That will be 200 dollars, please. Pay at the window.

I know the right answer is probably to go see a doctor, but i am cheap and people on the internet know everything.

I have pain in the middle of my right wrist when doing higher weights for dumbell presses (the gym i go to doesnt have bars), pushups, or when i bend my hand too far back. It is getting to where anything that pushes my hand back will casue pain, or i will lift and it will be ok, and then hurt later. I have pretty much given up on doing reguar pushups, or any high weight (65+ dumbells) Low weight still hurts sometimes, but isnt as bad. I can do knuckle pushups ones because my wrist doesnt bend. Anyone else ever have this problem, or know of how to fix it?

Thank you all knowing internet people.
my wife had the same problem and the doc said 1) rest until better 2) you are lifting too much weight --- stop it 3) more reps with less weight ...... doc was right

I've had this many times over the years and its tendonitis.Rest, Ice, Compression, and elevate is spot on advice.Mostly rest and ice. Ibuprofren may also help reduce the inflamed tendon and pain.

I've had this problem before.

For your dumbbell presses, try keeping your wrists turned so that they're facing each other. That might take some pressure off of your wrists.

For push ups, get a set of push up stands or use a set of dumbbells as push up stands. Not only does it virtually eliminate all the pain in your wrists, but you can do virtually every kind of push up out there with them, and you get the added benefit of greater range of motion with the stands/dumbbells.
