This is the kind of thing I was wondering about when I started a different thread in the In-state Rivals section by mistake.

Good story.

I found it interesting that he's considered one of the most important coaches because he spends so much time around the players. I believe it took Coach Rhoads a while to get this position filled. Looks like he wanted the "right" guy.

I thought Lamaak was going to be a junior?

He is, but he's a senior academically. A little bit misleading. I suppose he could pull a Schmeling, graduate on time and not come back for his redshirt senior year.

But Schmeling's case was a little bit different because he had actually been here five years or so without his redshirt senior year because he was signed as a grayshirt, which means he was here for at least one semester longer than normal. It could have been two semesters, depending on if he went to school in the fall with everyone else, but paid his own way for that first semester.

"Fortunately, he has assets at his disposal with three football-only conditioning assistants, a budget that funds for "up to $50,000 a year" in dietary supplements for players...."

50-Grand a year for 'dietary supplements' ?@?#@

Alrighty then, maybe he needs to shop at GNC

"You've gotta get from point A to point B --- and arrive with violence."

Love this quote.

Great article! Thanks for posting. What is most exciting is not the upgrade in head coaches but the upgrade between our former assistants and the new assistants. Night and Day in my opinion. Just like at the resumes and previous results. I am mega-pumped about the future of ISU Football!!!

Just an awesome quote. No offense to Coach Rhoads, but I like this one much better than "We'll hit you coming off the bus".

Love both quotes, actually. After all, what did we get from the previous coach other than "ya know" every .05 seconds.
