Can't make that argument this year. COY is voted by the coaches. Six of the ten are men IIRC. Of course Bill can't vote for himself so that's one vote for Jennie. Jennie can't vote for herself so that's one vote for Bill. Up to the other eight to pick the "winner". You can't objectively argue against either. Both, barring some crazy collapse by either team, will have earned it if they get the nod.
I will say it is bad luck for Bull personally to be having what could be his best year in decades and have it happen the same year a newcomer has put her team into title contention in a program that has not even had a winning season in several years.
Good observation on this trend!Has anyone else noticed the change in Ashley Joens' game? She is shooting more pull-up jumpers rather than driving to the basket trying to draw fouls. Officials were not calling fouls on the drives like they have in past years. She has a very nice mid-range jumper, a nice new development in her game.

I was literally about to suggest this as a possibility. She might be great at posting up players 1 on 1 in the WNBA, but what she tries vs double teams just won't work very often.another big part of this is that coach said he was trying to prepare her game for the pros. What she was doing underneath was not going to translate to the next level.
Well, if what Joens was doing in Fort Worth is any indication of what fans (and scouts) can expect the rest of the season, then I think there will be some definite positive impressions made for the reps from WNBA franchises. She'll be a catch, for sure. But it might take the next season to figure out where Ashley would fit in best (assuming she does NOT return for a fifth year). Just because a team drafts her, doesn't mean that's where her talents will be most useful or appreciated. Many have to get dropped and picked up repeatedly to find the right fit. I can only imagine how disheartening that is for a player who just wants to be on the floor. But if they can weather that storm, they can have a good pro career here, PLUS an international one as well. #Persistenceanother big part of this is that coach said he was trying to prepare her game for the pros. Just in her second year here, her leadership, drive, command, skill, vision...is an assemblage of skills, I can not recall in another Iowa State WBB player.I love watching her coach when she is in the game, helping players get their best shot and knowing what is coming next. She truly is a coach on the floor and her knowledge/poise is fantastic.
The ISU MBB team is also doing it, so a lot of ISU fans might be going to Portland to catch both teams over Thanksgiving.
Looks like 8 MBB and 4 WBB teams. WBB will play a 2-round tournament (all teams play 2 games) and MBB a 3-round tournament (all teams play 3 games). MBB games are Nov 24, 25, and 27, and WBB games are Nov 24 and 27. Three venues will be used (I don't know if one will be the "WBB venue" or if they'll spread things out). All four WBB teams have corresponding MBB teams there.Technically this is 2022-23 season news, but ISU will be in the Phil Knight Invitational next November. https://cyclones.com/news/2022/2/15...y-in-phil-knight-invitational-in-2022-23.aspx

I wouldn’t go into downtown Portland either.Pretty dumb if they’re both in your backyard and you won’t catch one game
