Some big names you'll notice are missing. I'll let @demoncore1031 or someone else from committee explain why.

Since we have already done a horror tournament, we wanted to keep those characters to a minimum, so I excluded all "supernatural" horror villains such as Fredy Krueger, Chucky, and Art the Clown, while keeping a few human characters - Hannibal Lecter, Norman Bates, and Jack Torrance. Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) will face John Doe (se7ev) in a play-in match for a 10 seed.

We also wanted to keep the comic book/superhero characters to a minimum so we kept The Joker and Lex Luthor, and will have two play-in matches - Magneto vs Thanos for a 10 seed and Green Goblin vs Doctor Doom for a 16 seed.

I thought it would also be fun to pit Richard Vernon (The Breakfast Club) vs Edward R. Rooney (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) for a 16 seed play-in.

After some serious debate, The Corleones (The Godfather movies) and Tony Montana (Scarface) were removed, as they were not considered to be true villains.

So here are the ones we have that are in. The play-ins are locked in to their spots, while the characters in the top 5 can be moved around based on the public poll and committee members' lists. We just need to fill in the blanks.

1. The Joker (Batman)
2. Lex Luthor (Superman)
3. Dr. Hannibal Lecter (The Silence of the Lambs)
4. Jack Torrance (The Shining)
5. Norman Bates (Psycho)

I am boycotting since nobody from the big lebowski is on the villain list

Who do you put on that list though? Walter said it himself about the nihilists, these men are cowards. The old man Lebowski was only a good villain because he had Philip Seymour Hoffman at his side. And anyone would look great when propped up by PSH.

LA LA Land
Buffalo Bill and the prison warden are the actual "villains" in Silence of the Lambs, but Hannibal Lector is the more memorable killer even though Buffalo Bill is worthy of the list for sure.

Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh is genuinely terrifying. Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa is brilliant. Longshanks & Bavmorda are criminally underrated.
This is the right answer. Not some supernatural thing. Just a true sociopath, and so "principled" in his approach that there is no reasoning. The "You must choose" gas station scene is just a great tension-packed scene.

Chigurh is in my top-5, as is Annie Wilkes from Misery.
