I want some of what you are smoking. What makes you seriously think either of your picks are plausible? Valley 48 - 17, Ankeny 49 - 21. Book it.

Yes, Ames wants to be Ankeny.

Dowling probably will win if they have the crooked ref again...

Click on the Dowling-Johnston highlights and watch the ref on the left during the blocked punt.

That's not a ref. It's a member of the chain crew, which is normally made up of locals who have been volunteering at that task for many, many years.

Sorry Dowling will not beat Valley! They were lucky to beat Johnston.

Technically, not even chain crew.
He's the guy who lays down the orange strip on the opposite side of the field of the chains. If you notice on the video, that is on Dowling's sidelines and they were the home team so the chains are on the other side.

Regardless of the guys job, he is on the sidelines and dressed in ref gear and therefore gives the appearance of bias by the officals as a whole. Dowling favored officiating has won them a few playoff games in the past, so it really isn't anything new.

Ames does NOT want to be Ankeny. Trust me, I went there. Ankeny is very good, but people are completely underrestimating Ames' incredible hot streak they're on including a running back with over 600 yards in the last 3 games. I think it's a nailbiter. I do see Valley crushing Dowling though.

That's the biggest problem. If the person isn't an on-field official, they shouldn't be wearing an identical outfit.

Chain crew/line-to-gain/secondary spotter personnel should be wearing something like this:

Sounds like a serious case of sour grapes here...

Agreed.

I caught a bit of Tirrell's rant on this yesterday on my drive home.

Good Lord - if he got anything right - it'd be news.

Yes - the person in question should probably display a little more decorum while on the sideline. And yes they should dress them differently.

But talk about making a mountain of of a sunken molehill.

M&M just had Keith Murphy on talking about the video they got of this guy celebrating the Dowling TD and supposedly he has been "relieved" of his duties. I think that is a volunteer position anyway. Does the home team provide the opposite side marker guy or is he actually part of the official chain crew?

It should be close! Sam Tim is a beast of a running back. Plus Miles, the starting QB has really been playing well the last couple of games. People do underestimate Ames, but I think it will be a close one to the finish
(And FYI, its in Ames)
