Anyone ever bought a used car from Sam's Riverside in Des Moines? I never even knew it existed before I started looking for used cars. They seem to have some really good prices and was just wondering if anyone could give me some feedback.

Thanks!

The price is awesome more than likely due to being a salvage title.

That's what I figured. Are all of their cars salvage though?
Not all are salvage but if it sounds too good to be true...

I know people who have had good luck buying a vehicle which was totaled and rebuilt by a body shop. I know people who have had horror stories in buying those vehicles. In most cases I'd say buying a salvage title is a bad move. If you can't afford the vehicle from the dealership you just need to look at less expensive vehicles you can afford. This kind of information asymmetry is extremely high risk.

Also, check with your insurance company to see if they'll
a) cover a salvage titled vehicle
b) allow for any coverage above liability
c) indemnify any claims

I would say 95% of there cars have salvage titles occasionally they have a regular title car with minimal damage. Both my wife and I drive vehicles with prior salvage titles. If you plan on keeping the car for long period of time you can definitely save some money up front, but most car dealers don't want to touch cars with prior salvage titles.

Sams riverside is just a dealer for salvage vehicles. They buy cars from insurance auctions and add a couple grand and try to resale them for a lil profit. My brother in law is a body man and mechanic and buys wrecked cars from auctions. I totally trusts his work but I understand other peoples worries about buying these vehicles.

Sounds like these are cars that lived through Hurricane Ike and Katrina, i.e. Riverside.
