I actually have an option that would be better than bringing baseball back or having hockey be a sport. It is a sport that we have a great facility for. The facility has hosted the NCAA Championships and was actually built for that. Bring back mens swimming.

On the contrary, the Beyer Hall pool, in 2010, is a very sub-standard Div. 1 swimming facility. Maybe in the 60's and 70's it was considered nice, but not anymore.
The athletic department had planned to include and pay for a new competitive pool/aquatic center with the new rec center (like Iowa and many other schools have done), but could not come up with the funds.

Hockey will never be played in Hilton again. The equipment umber the floor for cooling is too old and has not been up kept. I actually have an option that would be better than bringing baseball back or having hockey be a sport. It is a sport that we have a great facility for. The facility has hosted the NCAA Championships and was actually built for that. Bring back mens swimming. My understanding isnthat it will happen. JP is a former age group swimmer and bringing back mens swimming is on the top of his list. This would be a very cheap option. They would bring it back and instead ofnhaving two coaches like before they would have one coach like track and cross country. Not sure when but it will happen long before baseball or ANYTHING involving hockey.

JP won't bring back Men's Swimming to swim at Beyer. It would be putting the program at a disadvantage from a recruiting standpoint and wouldn't allow the program to be competitive. If you can't be competitive, there isn't much benefit in doing it.
Yes Beyer hosted NCAA's in 1970 or 1971 and is still a fast pool, but the they don't have a 10 meter tower for diving which doesn't help.

As for asking a coach to lead both the men's and women's swim program, I suppose that is possible, but would still require an additional coach to manage from what they currently have.
