I'd also be surprised if that 160 pounds is current. Pretty sure that's been his listed weight for like the last year and I'm assuming he's added some weight just through simple maturation.

So, which is it? These are facts, not opinions. Somebody give us the ratings and dates to show whether he has dropped a lot or not changed that much. Then, we can get on with our opinions.

When I looked it up I saw the old ranking. Looks like he is dropped around twenty spots. But it has nothing to do with ISU

Hoping this is the case. Either way, just speculating. Seems to me he was just outside the Top 100 (103, maybe?) in the last rankings. So a 10 spot drop. Not the end of the world

All it means is that Rivals got really excited about a dozen or so guys and catapulted them up in the rankings like they always do and that Custer wasn't one of them.

I think the tinfoil hat people are more upset that he dropped from 4 stars. He was mid 90s when he committed IIRC. Dropped out of Top 100. Now he is 113. What they don't understand is that the Top 25ish are 5 star. 25-105ish are 4 star. Guys 106 to 115 could be 4 star talent but Rivals doesn't want to stretch that far past 100. Just look at 2012 and 2011. Top 25 and 26 were 5 star. Top 105 and 106 were 4 star. They cut their star rankings off no matter how good or deserving 27-30 or 107-110 might be.

Oh please. Matt Thomas and Georges Niang received substantial bumps to their rankings long after they committed to ISU. Monte Morris stayed about the same. This has to be one of the most overplayed myth about recruiting.

It only applies to our football.

Copied and pasted for reference

Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com Ranking - Top 150 for the class of 2014

New Rivals 150 out. Custer down to 113.

Other noteables:
Vaughn - 7
Travis - 40
Abu - 50
White - 51
Terrell - 62
Jaylen Johnson - 64
Cunningham - 69
Marcura - 126
O'mara - 141

You would think out of the 9 of them, we could land at least 2 more top 150 guys.

Edit: Also noteable, Nick Babb #127

He is dropping because he chose to play baseball this summer rather than go on the AAU circuit. The guys doing the ranking base the rankings off what they have seen recently in most cases.

There is no difference in rivals rankings from 100-130 at this point. We're getting a quality player in Custer.

Just watched some recent Vaughn highlights....my goodness would he be a program changer. Offensively he is on another level, can do it all.

Was also very impressed with Jared Terrell. He would be an immediate contributor for any team with his physical size and toughness on the perimeter.
