In the 20 years I've been following the sisters, i've had the pleasure of seeing some great games and huge upsets.I remember Taylor's turnaround three-pointer to beat Texas. The upset against Texas Tech when they were ranked second. This game ranks up with the best of them.

One could almost say this is a tale of two halves but it really wasn't. We could talk about statistics and there's only two that really need to be discussed. So let's start with the two halves.

Coach had a brilliant game plan put into place as Texas was not known for their three-point shooting. The guards collapsed on the post anytime the ball went to the middle and you could tell it was effective. What was impressive in the first half was the fluidity of the Texas offense. They pass the ball incredibly fast and effectively. It was actually fun to watch. Initially the defensive game plan didn't work as Texas seemed to sink every three-pointer they threw at the basket starting out four for four. They edged their way out to a double-digit lead before the sisters made some stops and get a couple scores to end the half. Texas still held a comfortable double-digit lead and it appeared the game potentially could get out of hand. The half wasn't a calamity though because the ladies ended it on a real upswing.

Whatever Bill said at halftime seemed to make all the difference in the world. Not only did the sisters come out playing defense, but the shots started to fall as they open the half on a 7 to 0 run.

The second-half wasn't an example of offensive beauty. Rather, it was great determination, tenaciousness on defense, and a willingness to get scrappy in a way we don't often see from an Iowa State team. If someone told you the team would go nearly 8 minutes without scoring and would miss five straight free throws to close out the game you would probably guess they lost. If it wasn't for defense and rebounding that's exactly what would've happened…but it didn't. This team found a way to work the clock, keep Texas from scoring just enough and win a game that quite possibly could be a turning point for this team.

The other statistic? How about Texas out-scoring its opponents something like 42-19 in the paint this year. This includes wins against Stanford, Tennessee, and ATM. Today? That tenacious collapsing defense kept it to 16-12. Killer.

For the first time in ages, the POG is Moody. In one half she had the game we all wish we could expect from her all the time. She scored from deep and drove the lane. She rebounded. She dished the ball. Great play by the senior.

We got to see the usual from Seanna and continued toughness out of Fallon. We obviously missed Jadda, but thanks to Moody staying out of foul trouble we were ok. We only saw token time from any other point players. Our other senior, Brynn, was as active as I've seen her in a while. Of course she gets defensive attention, but she was all over the place, sometimes even lying on the floor as she scrapped.

It may not have seemed like it, but Bre had a good game and made some positive strides on the tough play front. She had some shots blocked, air balled a free throw, but on the defensive end she had her best game of the year.

For anyone who stayed after the game ended it was something to see Coach Fen come back on the floor to be interviewed on TV. Tears were streaming down his face. This was as emotional a win for him as he's had in quite some time. He should be proud. After the embarrassing second half at TCU the team bought into the plan and executed perfectly defensively.

Eight minutes without scoring to end the game. Five straight missed free throws that could have iced the game. Yet, with a defensive effort like this it didn't matter. ISU wins one for the memory books 59-57 over previously unbeaten and #3 Texas. Way to make a statement ladies.

I was worried about you during the game when we missed five free throws in a row in crunch time. Was thinking you might stoke out!

Wow, what a game. The biggest thing was when the lid was closed on the basket we didn't fall apart. The team play the tightest defense that I have seen in a couple of seasons. I watched Johnson at the end of the game and she was down on her hands and knees pounding the floor with joy. Our defense has to stay intense and if it does then we haven't seen the best that this team has in it. Go Clones... great win.

POG might be Moody, she played great. I was remiss in calling her out after the TCU debacle. I need to see more consistancy from her to believe the corner has been turned, though. Switching to the zone was a brilliant move by Bill. Jones had her 3's in the first half, but they didn't fall in the 2nd. That's a numbers game, and good coaching.

I thought Ferstrom played a huge part in this win. Her height challenged their post players all afternoon. Just her presence in the lane altered shots and made rebounding different. I hope she looks at the film and knows how big a difference she can make against teams that match up this way. She can be a big force moving forward.

I've seen the pictures of the former players who were at the game, but no list of names or way to match the faces. Has anybody seen a list of names anywhere?

Saw some of the press conferences on Cyclones.tv and Texas's coach is really a class act. I hope they have some success to rep the Big 12 this year as long as it doesn't come at ISU's expense.

As 20 years has been promoted over the past couple weeks with lists of top games tweeted and written about, it was surprising to realize that our teams had not really had HUGE national attention grabbing wins in recent years. It had been a while since we beat a highly ranked team. Definitely some exciting wins in tournaments in recent memory, like KSU, MSU, GB. But for the most part, teams took care of business as needed/expected, but nothing earth shattering.

Just when you least expect it, bam, a landmark win. Congratulations to all! That really is Hilton Magic for the women, and it was great to feel it again.

The replay has been on Fox sport channels on cable. I may have seen a replay scheduled for cyclones.tv for Tuesday night. Nothing replaces being at Hilton for the game. However, watching parts of the Fox replay, it's fun to get insights from the analysis by Brenda Vanlengen.

Nikki was pretty incredible. I saw a post that indicated she did quite a bit of work in the offseason with a trainer. She shot from everywhere on the floor and made it very difficult for Texas. Seanna made the last two field goals (yes, 8 minutes apart), so obviously her offense was critical. But as others have mentioned, and when you watch the replay, you see just how good her defense was. Same goes with Bry. She showed what a fighter she can be. Brynn was solid throughout and had some really big plays on offense and defense; those back to back threes were special. Kidd and Fallon had key plays as well.

For now, some of the doubts are set aside. The coaches can still come up with a winning game plan, and the team can execute it. There is hope!

Also, it's worth noting that TCU beat OSU on Saturday, after OSU led most of the game. No spectacular comeback for TCU but an upset since OSU is ranked.

Even when Bry has had rough games, I've thought she gives the team a different dimension that other teams need to adjust to. I've been disappointed when she might get only a minute of playing time in a half, whether because of match ups or mistakes. She brings a lot to the team, and playing time will help her and help others figure out how she is most effective.

To be precise, the last win in Hilton against a highly ranked team was 5 years ago vs. #11 Baylor. That was pretty sweet.

Enjoyed the video, but I watched it specifically to view defensive play, which posters here say was essential to the win. Disappointed Cyclone.tv didn't showcase some of ISU's defensive play. I mention it here only hoping someone from Cyclone.tv reads these posts and might consider including highlights that are key to victory, not only shot-making.

Missing the Minnesota contingent of Julie Hand, Tara Gunderson and Erica Haugen. My local favorites.

The woman on the far right front row is Fay Perkins who is in the ISU Athletic Hall of Fame.

I'll second that suggestion. On the Fox Sports replay, Brenda Vanlengen breaks down some of the offensive and defensive strategies for both teams. She pointed out a quick change up on defense by ISU out of a timeout in the last minute. Said we had been in a 2-3 zone all game, and came out in a 1-2-2, which led to Seanna dropping down to intercept a pass inside to #3, and #3 then colliding with and fouling Brynn. BV said it was a brilliant move. Kept them from scoring on a key possession. Another fun defensive play midway in the 2nd half was Nikki blocking a jumper in the lane by Jones (#21). Jones might have been shooting 100% up til then. She just stands and shoots. It was about time one of our players decided to go after the shot. She may not have made one the rest of the game.
