I think he will be a bigger piece of the puzzle this coming season.

No change in status: still quite tall and very unathletic.

Not unathletic at all for a seven footer.

A little awkward and maybe not that fluid, but I don't think those things have to be mutual. He's definitely athletic for his size, just hasn't learned how to utilize it yet.

I really wish they would redshirt him so he could have 3 years to make meaningful contributions. I think a lot of people forget a lot less talented big men that have developed into good players in their later years.

That's not realistic, especially for a European kid. He's either going to get looks from the NBA after two or three years or he's going back to Europe to play pro ball.

As a point of comparison the second leading scorer: Mitoglou Kostas just finished his freshman season at Wake Forest where he averaged 22 minutes and 10 pointes per game.

if he would of went to any other school he probably would have played more minutes. hoiberg would rather have tweeners guarding legit big men and trade it for the offense. it hurt us in some games maybe Prohm will at least use him when it would give us an advantage.

Wow. This can't be serious...
True. People don't pay attention to how many freshmen basketball players come in almost 19 years old. GT was barely 18 when he stepped on campus. I am looking forward to his Jr and Sr years. Learning post moves for two years under Niang will give him a chance to have great inside outside mismatch potential. His stats from this summer indicate last years development improved his performance versus the European competition.

More than anything, I'm curious to see he's bulking up a bit. Any pics from his Euro league this summer?

Best pic I could find off a quick search
The picture has horrible timing and a bad angle but it looks like he has some muscle tone in his legs and a bit of size in his arms. He also has a swan-like neck which should come in handy if the team puts on a ballet performance.

Certainly thicker and not such a rail. A little more would be ideal but he looks big enough to give us some quality minutes imo. Especially since he has a 3 point shot to draw out the defense. Him in there with Burton would be awesome. Either Burton posting up on a guard or driving in an empty lane because Giorgos AND Georges are drawing out the post players. I see Burton and Giorgos getting most of their minutes when McKay isn't in. But who knows. I definitely see this kid getting minutes this year though and if Prohm is smart he is working the phone.

Not if, but when.
It isn't unusual for a new coach to get a new uniform design. Perhaps Prohm goes with something like this (in Cardinal and Gold of course).

Raw, sure. Unathletic? You haven't watched him. Very smooth, agile and skilled for a 7 footer.

And dude has a sweet outside shot...smooth like you said.

Reminds me of Tony Kukoc...uh oh, a Bulls reference...I'd better go hide in my doomsday bunker...

He has that sweet sky hook. Probably many other post moves as well.

I would LOVE to see him utilize a head fake more this year. Last year, when I saw him practicing against other guys, his shots were too easily timed by the defense. He needs to mix it up more this year and then he will really take off in my opinion. Onion rings time, my friends!!!
