And possibly set ISU back a decade after the fallout with the recruiting of players that can't do anything else.

Walden ran triple option offense. Disaster. Terrible to watch. Terrible.

Nebraska and Oklahoma both ditched it for a reason.

I certainly hope pollard is smarter than this. This isn't the military football schedule and it isn't the bottom of the acc either.

Good god, because Jim Walden failed at it, that means it won't work. That's great reasoning right there...

I remember all the hype on the triple option when Iowa played Georgia Tech a few years ago in the bowl game. Tech got killed. Also hard to play from behind if you can't throw the ball because you have no wide receivers.

Calvin Johnson went to GA tech during that time period.

Yes Walden did run the triple option. So did Barry Switzer and Tom Osborne. So does Navy who is currently ranked. We have to find an offense that can chew up clock, shorten the game and is different from what everyone is running. We cant run the same offense as the teams with more talent. We just cant. We have to do something different. The triple option would be a good test. If it wucks. Oh well we have sucked for 120 years. What is 4 more.

Actually because you can't beat speed and better athletes with it. You can't line up and beat Texas or Ou with that offense. Enjoy your one yard gains as their better athletes t off on your one dimensional offense.

You don't condense the field and expect to beat better teams. Nebraska found that out after their partial qualifier recruiting fell through.

not really hard to figure out actually. Evidence of this everywhere.

That GT triple option also went 11-3 last year, lost by 2 to Florida State in the ACC title game, and ripped Miss State in the Capital One Bowl...

I would hate to see the triple option just because I think it's a high school offense. I doubt we'd ever get anywhere near the quality of receivers we have now as well. But I'll support whatever.

Ya just go with it man. Until realignment/expansion 2.0 hits we're not really going anywhere.

You revealed two things you don't understand.

It won't be 4 years. You have to recruit differently to run that offense. You can't just drop it and then make wide receivers magically appear.

Fans won't like it. You will lose fans after watching a game of getting stuffed for one yard gains all game with a Quarterback that can't pass at all!

You don't run the spread because it's the same....you run it for the strategical advantage ( u know x and o s). You make it easier for those teams to prepare not harder when you go away from it.
