So Garza alone is worth at a minimum 20-25 spots in the rankings.
5-6 seeds are the teams seeded 17-24 in the tournament and you don't think they would be a tournament team without him.
I think that Iowa would be on the bottom side of the bubble, an 18 team win without him. Yes, Garza means THAT much to Iowa. He's a tremendous college basketball player and effects the game in so many ways. All of this doesn't even matter because he's coming back.

No, on the year. Now there is going to be dips to 12 and ups to 3 but somewhere around 7 for the total year.
Honestly guys, this is really set up to be Iowa's year with or without Garza, especially if he returns. They will have maybe the largest home court advantage over any team out there. If this Covid thing continues to play out and capacity is limited to just a few thousand, or worse none, then Iowa may be a final four team. They already know how to play infront of an morgue type environment and places that are far from capacity. They will even save money from not having to buy pizza for the 2000 fans who do show up (maybe, it is still possible that they would demand it to show up, or they use the funds to buy out BF). They are salivating that the carver morgue will become the new norm out there.
Who can create their own shot consistently when the shot clock is at :06 on that team? IA is not a conventional basketball team as the game is played today. They thrive on feeding Garza on the blocks and drawing double teams for kicks to shooters or letting him just do his thing 1 on 1 on the blocks. The teams that figured out to let him get his 30 and lock down the perimeters slowed them down pretty well this past year (Michigan- he had 44, team lost by double digits). With him or without, their defensive issues haven't been addressed. Fran can beat poor shooting teams by sitting in his zone (Syracuse/Cincy/ISU) but if they need to match-up, look out.
Iowa wasn't slowed down against Michigan when Garza got his 44 points. Iowa scored over 90 points that game.
Agree with you on the defensive issues and am hoping for some improvement there. I would take a Top 75 AdjD team next season.
They are more than addressing it, they're putting a defensive sieve with two new hips back on the floor.
TP.. Garza scored 44 and the next highest scoring guy was 12, and that was Connor. Iowa shot 20% from the 3 point line. Michigan didn't slow down Garza, but they sure as s*** slowed down everyone else.
Iowa as a team wasn't slowed down though which is what he said. We scored over 90 points on the road.
Michigan's game plan to let Garza get his was not the reason Iowa lost that game.
True, however the end of the game on both sides was terrible in that each team allowed the other to literally run and score a layup. The last like 12 points for each team were layups and free-throws. I understand what you're saying though.. Defense in that game was nonexistent.
I agree but offensively he is stupid efficient. Fran is really fortunate that Luka GTF out of Iowa City and found someone who could help him with his game.
No no, I'm agreeing with you. We're giving props to Garza. Major props. Dayton was the #5 team in the nation last year and if Toppin was not on the team, they wouldn't have even been close to that good. Not even close.
