That was an intentional kick. If a qb is truly trying to protect during a slide you curl up, you don't throw an appendage out. That was stupid by Brady because reed could have seriously injured his knee.

Exactly right.

1. It was intentional. Any qb truly trying to protect himself doesn't go spikes up.

2. This should get called to PROTECT qbs. Imagine that Brady gets his foot right into Reed's gut and Reed then flops. Brady's right knee could get shredded.

The argument that Brady was trying to protect himself is nonsense.

"Throw the flag, ref! That's a personal foul!"

"On the Quarterback, coach? Are you kidding me?"

Oh, and BTW. He didn't have spikes on. He had turf shoes.

It should get called so that other QBs don't try to make the same stupid move. Spearing is illegal to protect defenders as much as it is to protect offensive players.

Pats fans shouldn't be defending Brady on this. You think Bob Kraft would've been happy if Brady destroyed his knee kicking Ed Reed?

If all of this is the case, then why didn't he even pause to apologize?

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. --
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs didn't hold back after his team's 28-13 victory in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, shouting as he ran through the Gillette Stadium tunnel that the New England Patriots were "arrogant f------!"

Yup, the first thing I would do is to apologize. LOL

Absolutely not, Brady wouldn't take a chance to possibly injure himself.

Spikes up is a figure of speech genius. Have you ever played a sport?

So Brady planned to slide, knew Reed was coming and put his leg up with the possibility of hurting himself to kick Reed?

Give Brady the benefit of the doubt then. He was trying to protect himself and not put his foot into an oncoming defender. Still a great way to expose and injure a knee.

I agree. I don't think it was on purpose because of that chance to injure his knee. It was more like Reed was coming full speed and Brady didn't want to get stepped on and the leg up might have been able to push the defender away. IMO

So your thinking is that he didn't want to injure his knee so he threw his leg up to try to stop Ed Reed?

Ok and youre a giant patriots homer.

If Brady had a history of "dirty" plays like Suh I could probably see it the way you do. But, Brady doesn't like to be hit and I don't believe he would go out of his way to hit another player and possibly injuring himself.
