Hornacek was a walk-on with a promise of a scholly in year 2. A notch above your typical walk on. Petey was a pure walk-on thrown into the fray.

I think Marc Urquart was a walk-on as well. He didn't play much until his senior year. But I believe he is the first Cyclone with a triple-double. Now he's a medical doctor.

He walked on and got a scholy almost right away. Technically he was on scholarship the last two years, but he technically wasn't recruited. Just asked to walk on.

well, there was this guy named jeff hornacek. he was okay.

I know Hornacek was good, but I haven't heard anything about Gary Thompson. He saw an ad in the Daily for tryouts and turned into a 1st Team All-American.

He was also an All-American pick in baseball.
