Like last year?? HAHAHAHA. I would rather go 0-3 non conf and win 7 conference games.
I choose neither TBH. If you told me we could go 3-0 and not make bowl games, my response is "man this sucks"

If you told me we got 1-2 and lose to Iowa every single year but go to a bowl game , it might hurt less but honestly, as a native Iowan and someone who grew up and lived a majority of his life in Eastern Iowa, my answer is still "man this sucks that we can't ever beat Iowa"

Now, if you gave me a 7-5 record, beat Iowa every other year or 1 out of 3, and win 5-6 conferences games a year -I'd donate my meager salary every year for an annual raise.

That being said - CMC and Co deserve a raise an extension and it should happen soon

I’m more interested in the Heacock raise and extension. The sooner that can happen, the better.

Like past years, I can see Campbell forgoing some extra raise $$ to reward Heacock, and also sweeten Scheelhaase's contract a bit.

I think we should give CMC a slight raise and extend him. Mainly because... who else are we going to go get? And then start all over again from scratch? No thanks.

I think CMC is good at running a college football program... as like a CEO that oversees everything... is able to get decent recruits here, put a good face on the program, cares about his players, etc, etc.

What I'd REALLY like to see though, which will never happen because these head coaches are too power hungry and arrogant, is for CMC to either give Scheelhaase complete control and autonomy over the entire offense OR go hire an up and coming OC from another school that runs an offense that mixes things up, is more creative, and forces defenses to cover the entire field and allow them to do whatever they want.

CMC needs to trust his OC to do their job, and stay out of it. Maybe he's currently doing that with Scheelhaase? I don't know? But if so, then maybe Scheelhaase needs to go, or go get some training from some offensive guru?

There were some signs of life on offense in some games this year, and CMC even admitted at one point that he wasn't being fair to his offensive players and not allowing them to go out and win games, which blew my mind to hear him admit that, but then there were games (like KU) where we went right back into the 2 yds and a cloud of dust offense again and didn't look like we were even attempting to score or win the game. Frustrating.

But yes... keep CMC as long as you can... he's the best CEO we can get for this program right now with our budget. And then work to somehow get him to change up his offensive scheme that more creatively moves the ball down the field because trying to win by just using a power running game only is not giving us the best chance to win.

CMC, CNS, CJH and CER are 4 of the best at their jobs that Iowa State has ever had. We need to keep all 4 if at all possible.

The thing about game planning is that the philosophy isn't one coach coming up with it and running with it. It's agreed on as a committee. It's not just Scheelhaase or Campbell saying this is how it going to be.

I'm genuinely curious what people (who criticize this years offense) want? Which team would you have us mimic? Personally I think Texas had the best offensive game plans (and also the best weapons) and we played them fairly close. Honestly CNS has been calling fantastic games for the most part (after ohio).

Based on past extensions, I'd expect to see something this week. Especially with the portal opening soon.
Wonder if he'll ask for something similar to other contracts I've seen where there is a stipulation for certain amount of NIL monies. I think I've seen that or maybe I've made that up.... No idea how that works since the school can't be involved in nil.

He has already done this once. But yes, he could do it again.

Crazy suggestion. Show me any organization that the ceo gives up complete control to a division president (coordinator)? Are u joking?

I think u are convincing yourself on this NIL provision. It has not happened.

Even tho 'most of us' would agree that Scheelhaase needs to grow and get another consistent successful year under his belt as an OC, I bet there are already several teams sniffing around and looking at him as an up & comer they want to snatch him. Thankful that Heacock has stayed here as long as he has.

19 starters return next year.
18 backups return.

I'm eager to find out what this staff can do with this.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet a lot on a very good year.
