I am sure JP was thrilled that CMC got the team back to a bowl game so he could negotiate a raise and extension without the rotters whining.

Any thought on timing? Before the bowl game, no? Would there be any benefit in getting it done right away with the transfer portal opening imminent, or is it not a factor since his squad knows he isn't going anywhere.

Based on past extensions, I'd expect to see something this week. Especially with the portal opening soon.

I see no need to extend his contract until he can start a season 3-0.
So you’d extend him after last season, but not after we played an insane number of freshmen after unexpectedly losing a handful of starters prior to the start of the season (including our quarterback), and going 6-3 in conference play tied for for third with a damn close shot to playing in the title game after winning out in October and winning 4 straight conference games on the road including a top-25 rivalry upset (after a large portion of pundits, media, the college football universe, and a portion of our own fanbase wrote us off in September)?

Got it.

I want to say it's been a while since he's had a raise/extension. I don't think there was one in 2021. I want to say there was one on the table but the ND job opened late and that kind of got shut down. I'm not sure if it ended up happening or not. Obviously there wasn't one last year.

So it seems like it is probably time for another one.

Last contract extension was after 2020 (the press release was from february 2021), and was a 3 year extension from 25 to 28.

Probably see a similar 2-3 year extension to that after this year, along with a bump from 5-5.5 million (In line with where other successful big 12 coaches are right now) from his current 4mil

I was thinking his last extension was after the bowl game, but dont remember for sure.

It sure seems like one of them was after the bowl, I think that was the year some thought he was leaving for USC etc.

I see no need to extend his contract until he can start a season 9-0.

Fixed it for ya’ll.
This is the kind of loser mentality that permeates Iowa State football and will keep us from ever winning 10 games.

Settle for nothing now and you'll settle for nothing later.

The contract should be renegotiated so that if Campbell does not achieve 10 wins by the end of his contract he will forfeit all salary back to the athletic department. And he must personally deliver a handwritten apology to every season ticket holder during his tenure.
