So its roughly 3:00 and decide to get my daughter and head home early today. She is suppose to have gymnastics tonight at 5:15 and wanted to make sure we could get home before the rush and not have to rush ourselves.

I head a certain way to avoid the busy intersection, just about got stuck on a hill, but managed to make it up and over. Got the kid and started heading back. I wanted to run and go get new winter gloves for her, so I go back the same way i came. Instead, on the hill I got stuck, two cars got stuck, turned sideways and slide down the hill blocking the way through. Well by this time, I was too far down the hill to be able to make it back up, and I couldn't get through the other way, so I have to sit and wait till they get moved.

30 min. go by and another car does the same thing as me. So now there are two cars at the bottom of the hill stuck, and us two just waiting. People came and gone and saw our cars sitting at the top that they were able to turn around. Well one guy must have not been paying attention or going to fast because up and over the hill he came. Now he turned sideways and rammed into the two of us that were at the top of the hill. So now you have two who crashed at the bottom, and three at the top!

The tow truck finally came and and hour later finally got out. I owe $80 for getting towed so they can get the other guy, and my daughter misses her class that we left 2 hours early for.

I finally go get the gloves. Found some for the daughter, and some for me. There were snug, but I managed to slip my hand through. As I got home though, I noticed that I bought women's gloves. Now my hands are small, but now it makes sense why I couldn't get them in. So out we went again to exchange them so I can have them or tomorrow.

What a night! Anyone else have the same fun!

Not quite that much fun, but I'll have to remember this story the next time I am trapped in Chicago traffic.

Your car got hit? Wow.

Those stranded situations can be nasty...a number of times someone gets seriously hurt as you're vulnerable or even worse - outside your car.

Very fortunate...

Not nearly as much fun as you... I drove home, a drive that usually takes 15 min took 45, snowblowed the driveway, had a bowl of chili. Gave the kids a bath, and now they are going to bed, and I am going to watch survivor.

I am really glad this was not tomorrow night, we are having the kids stay at grandmas, for the first time in 2 years!!! An evening out to ourselves tomorrow!

Yup car got hit by a chevy avalanch. No damage to me but it dented in his side car.

Oh and forgot to mention. The other care that got stuck like me that the last car hit was brand new. I mean, she bought it at 12:00 today!

LOL... If I were purchasing a new car, I probably wouldn't do it on a day with a snow storm. Just me though

If you have emergency roadside assistance on your car you can turn it into your insurance company. They'll reimburse you in full. There is no deductible for something like that.

No accidents for me either. But, my 15 minute drive took 45 and my gas light went on 1/2 way home. So, I had to stop at the gas station down the road so that I don't have to freeze tomorrow morning pumping gas.

I left work early, but heard that they let everyone out at 4:30 to let people miss the big rush at 5:00.

I bailed from work about 3 or so. I couldn't believe how much traffic was on I-35. Normally I can get from my office in Des Moines back to Ames in about 25 minutes, took me a bit over an hour tonight. My work truck is only a 2wd so I was taking it nice and easy to get home. I didn't want to put that thing in the ditch. The boy is in bed now, but teething so I don't know how long it'll take for him to fall asleep.

The vehicle had a side car!

Did it look something like this:

You know 4VR, they have this new invention that will fix your gas issue. It is called a fuel gague. You just read it, and then you know BEFORE the light comes on that you are low on gas, and then you can get gas over lunch like I did.

That's too bad about your vehicle. But still, I have to chuckle. How are people so bad at driving in 4 inches of snow? I can't imagine the deaths that would occur if they lived in the iron range.

So I am driving along carefully and out of nowhere from a side street this Toyota pickup pulls out in front of me. Trying to get up to speed quickly because he obviously knows he pulled out in front of me he floors it and starts fish-tailing from one side of the 4 lane road to the other. This literally goes on for like 10 or 15 seconds, I would say he goes back and forth between both curbs 4 times, then hits the far curb and jolts to a stop.

He then floors it again and starts the process all over again, this time causing a huge garbage truck coming the opposite way to slam on the brakes. Now he gets it going straight again. Does he slow down? Nope, flying down the road. I am staying back at least 100 feet from this guy so he comes up to a turn and ends up going up into the front yard of a house.

I am no brain surgeon, but if I almost eat a garbage truck for dinner I slow down and take it easy.

Didn't go out for lunch. We painted pottery at work and they bought us Jason's Deli.
