Things to do in Denver

Go to The Rio Grande by park meadows after work one evening for Margaritas. It's close to the tech center. House limit of three ritas per person, and they'll knock you on your ***. I wouldn't recommend eating there though.
I'm going to be lazy, I went back and located the thread I started for our Colorado trip last year...

We got some great suggestions here from a number of people - had a blast out there.

Denver Chop House is very good... and so is The Keg Steakhouse. If you want to stay in the Tech Center, and have bottomless pockets, Mortons and Brooks are also good steakhouses.
Shriner- when possible get the bleep out of the tech center area... take the light rail downtown... depending on what your interests are you can:
- check out the denver museum of natural history/zoo, they are located near one another east of downtown
- go for a hike in the foothills... perhaps trek around Red Rocks Ampitheatre, gorgeous venue. While there, check out the dinosaur footprints near Morrison.
- See if the Av's or Nuggies are in town
-the Aquarium
- if you're into the outdoors, go to the REI Superstore near the Pepsi Center...
- go up I-70, slap on some skis or a board and hit A-Basin, Copper or Breck
- head down south to C. Springs and visit garden of the gods and the US AF Academy
- visit the Coors Brewery here in Golden
- check out the freaks on Pearl St. in Boulder
- trek up to Ft. Collins and visit the New Belgium Brewery
- gambling in Black Hawk/Central City (just up I-70)
- there is a great music scene here.. tons of little venues that have well known acts playing almost every night... see westword or the onion when you get out here for a list of concerts.... try bluebird, the ogden, the filmore, the paramount, the soiled dove, wells fargo ampitheater, and in boulder the fox or boulder theaters.. and/or the Aggie in Ft. Collins
- check out Rocky Mountain National Park... a bit of a drive from the south metro, but well worth it... watch out for elk!

ColoradoClone and frontrangeclone already have you pretty well covered with good suggestions, so I don't have a whole lot to add. I would disagree with ColoradoClone on Rio Grande, though. Avoid it. The food is marginal at best, and while their gargantuan margaritas will get you drunk fast (they're made with Everclear instead of tequila), they taste like swill (they're made with Everclear instead of tequila). I haven't been to the Rio Grande in Park Meadows, but the one in LoDo is a meat market. So, on second thought, if you feel like ogling a bunch of cute little twenty-somethings and coeds from the Auraria campus (about a half-mile away), maybe you DO want to go there. :wub:
For GOOD Mexican food, try Hacienda Colorado. There's one just south of the Tech Center, right off of I-25. The margaritas are better there, too.
The Denver Chophouse is great, as is the Keg. I would choose either of those over Morton's or Brook's based on what you get for the price. Elway's (in Cherry Creek) is also excellent. It's pricey, but not quite as pricey as Brook's or Morton's. Another great, quintessentially Denver restaurant is the Buckhorn Exchange. In addition to beef, they specialize in buffalo steaks and game meat. It will be one of the most unique dining experiences you'll ever have.

There is a Hacienda Colorado near the DTC. Hacienda Colorado has a full tequila menu that is impressive. I concur with everything posted here. Soiled Dove in LoDo is now a country bar....if you are into that kinda thing.
Chophouse is easy to find, it is next to Coors Field in LoDo.
There are several nice restaurants up and down the 16th Street mall and it is always good for people watching.

Wow, way to rip on the Rio. I love their margaritas. I've been trying to duplicate at home for years now and I think I'm close. I KNOW FOR SURE, the use Cuervo Gold in their Margs. In fact, that is all they will tell you they use. The "Mix" that the Tequila goes into is the secret part. They employees get the mix and then add the perscribed proportions of the mix and tequila. Could the "mix" have everclear in it? I suppose but I know they use tequila and they are tastey and strong.
The food at the Rio is good, IMO. BUT, it isn't Mexican food. It is Southwest food and there is a difference. I like their Tacos Al Carbon. Regardless, I still go there for the Margs. The food being good is just a bonus.
We ate at the Rio Grande and loved it. It was pretty damn full in there (lots of hotties!) and the service was still great - and the food...YUM! No need to even mention the margaritas - the Mrs. loved 'em.
And, I credit the Rio to my new found love of Modelo. Without the Rio, I don't know where I'd be today...:biglaugh:

Find a clear view...sit and stare toward the West! It is just beautiful! Love it in Denver and the surrounding area!!
I did say that I don't recommend eating at the Rio. Hacienda Colorado is a much better option so we're on the same page their. As far as the margs go, we'll have to agree to disagree.
Gotta love Cyclone Fanatic... never thought I'd see a thread become a debate on the Rio Grande..... I will say it was great living in Ft. Collins and living 3 blocks from the Rio in Old Town, easy stumbling home distance after hitting the 3-max limit, or more if I could get someone else to buy..... not sure about the Rio down south i denver, but the Boulder and Ft. Collins Rio's are hottie magnets!!
