Speaking of justifying TCU, if this:
greggdoyelcbs Gregg Doyel
I'm hearing the Big 12 is pushing hard for TCU - and TCU hasn't said no just yet

is true, some in the big 12 need to justify their jobs. with the other options we have available, this would be idiotic.

TCU with their combination of academics, FB prowess, overall athletic program and location beats the hell out of academic lightweights and far-flung outposts such as Cincy, WVU and USF. Cincy and USF get buried in their pro sports heavy locales and their attendence reflects that. TCU does fight the same thing somewhat but not nearly to the same extent as Cincy and USF with its Ft Worth location.

B12 Presidents (especially the AAU schools) can tolerate one academic lightweight in Louisville but likely not anymore than that if they can help it.

Not exactly sure.
If mizzou leaves, we need to push to have bball tourney in DES moines if these rumored teams get invited. We would be the center of the conference. About halfway to WV, tx, and BYU. Could be an option. I know kc would be more central but do we want to play in a state with no member. Throw this out and maybe the fb championship having a chance in st louis and the heads of mizzou might get some heat for losing the mizzou economy a chunk of change.

Probably run into the same problems with seating and hotel capacity that has kept Des Moines (or Ames) from getting an NCAA first round tournament game there for years.

I agree with this. You keep the KC market with KU, KSU and ISU. you may lose St. Louis, but that's pretty Big 10 country because of Illinois from my understanding already.

KC is a heavy KU/MU market. Yes there's KSU, ISU fans also, plus Iowa and Nebraska but it's a very high percentage of KU/MU fans and the conference will take a hit in that city if MU leaves, probably a very big hit. I can't see the Big 12 having a tournament in an arena that is actually located in the state of Missouri.

Motion fails for lack of a second.

Kansas City would still be fine; Lawrence is 40 freakin' miles away. KC is a KU town. Ames to Des Moines is about 35. And Des Moines would not be "center" of conference. It might be about halfway east and west, but it would be north polar end. Oklahoma City would be more "center" than Des Moines.

Right, but KSU, KU and ISU is enough to keep the market in "Big 12 Country". You'd lose the viewers from MU fans probably but you would still be on the air in the Kansas City area.

Worth a shot though. Play women in Hilton and men in the well. I would think seating for the big xii would be better than ncaas, could be wrong. I have no clue on hotels, so I would defer on that point.

With those bball teams, probably would need a dome stadium now that I think of it. Let's add another 5-7k onto Hilton. Fred will need it in a couple years anyhow, or roof the Jack and Play there.

This. Been to KC many, many times. Heck, when I was down there for the KSU games @ Arrowhead I saw more KU fans than KSU fans out and about (except at the stadium, of course).

So you are saying if mizzou leaves that we still keep the kc market because they don't really care about them. I truly don't know the answer to that. I don't go there anymore than I need to. I don't care for the town, seems grungy to me.

You have nothing to counter the actual argument so you go with that.

aTm, Nebraska, Colorado, and Mizzou BCS bowl wins-0
WVU, Louisville, Cincinatti, BYU BCS Bowl wins-3

In fact those teams have more wins than the others have attempts. Does anyone bring what Nebraska brought? Probably not. Do they bring the clout of aTm? No, but what does that clout mean? Pretty much nothing when you have the other two large Texas schools.

Those 4 teams probably have 0 trips to the BCS if they were in the Big-XII at the time.

Big 12 would definitely keep the market due to KU and KSU. But, SEC would also claim it, too. It doesn't have to be one or the other.
