Read what I said.. I did not say we were even in the middle, I don't think ISU is one of the more attractive schools. I just don't agree with people that there IS NOTHING good about ISU. Compare it to Baylor or KSU. Look at our school vs the MTW or CUSA or MAC schools where everyone says we are headed. It isn't even close.
My point is people are way too negative on our own school, I have never seen a fanbase put down it's own school like this one and just drag it through the mud and **** all over it. Sure it isn't in the upper tier of BCS schools but to suggest we are dog food like the local media likes to think, that is equally as rediculous.
Am I nervous, yes...but I still think we come out ok. Sorry for being one of those people that has a shred of optimism left.
True, but keep in mind, it's not what we think makes us worthy, it's what other school presidents and conference commissioners feel make us worthy.
Hmmm...so how come there are football and basketball players at both Cal and Michigan (the two best and most selective public universities in the country) who can barely talk?
This would be great. Either we are included or we go Big East without threat of ACC taking Big East Teams.

I would think KU is one of those schools because of bball and academics.
I think TTU would be going west with OU/OSU. This leaves a spot for the Pac to be filled by one of KSU/Mizzou/ISU/Baylor. There's also the SEC spot.
If KSU goes to the Pac and Mizzou to the SEC, that would mean ISU and BU getting to go along to the ACC.
With room in the Big East if need be.
If all those conferences grow that quickly, the big10 will almost be forced into further expansion as well.

I think somebody is pulling your leg with the ACC crap. I could be wrong...but until I see a link...
All of the ACC talk seems to be one message board talking about the rumor on another message board (i.e. echo chamber). Nothing I can find shows a shred of even the weakest credibility yet.
Also here at the beginning of the article, mentions Dodds/Beebe kicking the tires on the idea

If the ACC is really willing to accept UT and throw away equal revenue sharing, it will be the end of that conference. Texas has already destroyed the SWC and the Big 12....just as well make it 3 for 3.
The ONLY way I could potentially see the ACC move work out is if they could convince ND to join as well - which I could see.
The only league, outside of the Big 10, that I've ever thought had a chance to lure ND in is the ACC.
Exposure all over the east coast, and if UT was in it, Texas as well.

Thought I'd check on football attendence...compared to other BCS teams, there are teams 15 behind us in attendance (Baylor, Cincinnati, UCONN, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Northwestern, S. Florida, Stanford, Syracuse, TCU, Vandy, Wake Forest, Washington St).
Not that basketball matters, but we are 21st out of 73 BCS teams in Basketball attendance. More BCS basketball teams b/c Big East with more teams.
In terms of revenue, for BCS football schools, there are 6 teams behind us in revenue (S. Florida, Cincinnati, Mississippi, Mississippi St, Wake Forest, Washington St).
In the directors cup last year, we finished ahead of 13 teams (Syracuse, Boston College, Mississippi, Colorado, NC State, Oregon St, Utah, Kansas, Wake Forest, Miss St, Pitt, Washington St, Rutgers). I know the year before we did a lot better, so I don't know if last year is the best indicator of overall athletic dept. success.
Because there's a lot less of them on the team than Boise. Michigan can only allow so many lower level qualifiers in a year. Boise allows partial qualifiers which no BCS conference allows. That makes a huge difference.
It's a long ways from Austin to Seattle and Oregon. I'm sure most of the ACC schools are closer. Travel for football is not that big a deal, since most games are on Satuday afternoons and you charter a plane. Once you get to 30,000 feet you can fly 500 miles in an hour, so your talking about getting home an hour later on Saturday night for 4 road games a year, no big deal.
What will really suck will be non revenue sports travel in the winter on weeknights. Some day I could see the ISU and Nebraska volleyball teams stranded overnigt in OHare trying to get to matches on the East Coast. They would look at each other and say remember when we had a three hour van ride and we played in front of crowds of thousands?
Looking at those bball numbers for revenue I'm really impressed. For having such a rebuilding job that Fred had the numbers were still there. I think he has it headed in the right direction and could push them higher.
Long term this comes down to viewers and fans (in football mostly). As ISU fans we need to raise our self-esteem and pick up on donations, it might be a little too late, but we need to start sometime if we want to improve our lot.
I am so sick of this realignment crap and just want to know where we are going to be. I now despise anything to do with UT and OU is not too far behind right now.
