Having been to MSG many many times and as recently as 3 weeks ago, it is the most overrated arena there is. It's a dump. Complete dump. The renovations made it a bit better, but it's a sewer. It doesn't get that loud and ISU plays in 8 gyms every year that are more hostile than this place. Hilton is 10X more impressive to see a game at. As are Phog Allen, Gallager Iba, and anywhere else in the B12 not named TCU or Baylor. Don't get your hopes up, it isn't impressive.

This is encouraging to hear.

True. But without that narrative my dramatic build up would have been not-so-dramatic!

For those of you lucky enough to attend the game, the atmosphere at MSG is just so different than the rest of the country. I've seen UCONN play in the NCAA tournament in tons of arenas- domes (minn, st. pete, houston), in hostile territory (Anaheim with AZ and I believe we will win this game SDSU), greensboro/UNC, and in arenas that completely turned on UCONN (DC/George Mason). The arenas get loud, some louder than MSG.

But none compares to playing a game in the center of the world. It is electric.

And realistically, the Garden seats 19,000 for NCAA hoops, a 1/4 of which is doled out to the schools. Another 1/4 reserved for corporates. UVA and MSU fans will be rooting for you. Add the swiss fans that will choose during the course of the game, it'll be rocking and rolling for both sides.

See this the arrogance that most can't stand. Center of the World, give me a break. Ya, I get that a lot of people live there. I'm a pilot and I routinely fly all over the world. To me, you're just flyover country.

People say the same about Wrigley and Fenway. MSG is the basketball Mecca of arenas. No arena compares for sightlines and the historical significance. There is a reason Lebron Kobe, Jordan, and all the greats get up for games at MSG.

Yes aesthetically it is a dump. But for views from anywhere in the arena and the aura that surrounds it; it has no equal. NYC is the basketball capital of the world and MSG is its crown jewel. It is more than just a basketball arena also. It is world reknown.

Its the financial capital of the world. Sorry to burst your bubble.

If it was just fly over country 9/11 wouldn't have happened.

Renowned=old.
It's only renowned because it's been there a long time, and it's easy to stink with one name rather than learning new ones.
In terms of the basketball being played there lately, they should be thankful that we'll bring our brand of basketball to them. They'll finally have something worth watching.

I knew that would get your goat. Sorry to burst your bubble, the world does not revolve around NYC. Definitely flyover country.

Here's to a good game Friday.

Is MSG more historic than the Spurs arena, where actual NBA championships have been won in the last 10 years?

I think we all know Uconn will bring more fans there b/c it has public transportation service. I'm assuming that's why only a few hundred showed up to Louisville a couple years ago for our last meeting.

Anybody have a gif of Royces opening tip one hand jam from that game? It's the one where Uconns two overhyped bigs parted out of fear.

My avatar is a picture from my seat at the Round of 64 Game in Louisville in 2012. We had a nice contingent of Cyclones + the Kentucky fans were rooting for us that night. lol I was also in Dayton last year for the Round of 32 Game in the Temple section. That was fun! Man, I wish I could go to NYC this weekend! Let's Go State!

The 1970s called. They want their memories back.

Another indication that our UConn posters are old: none of them are posting tonight. Perhaps they are already in bed.

Nonetheless, being an emerging geezer myself, I much prefer old guys who know their stuff like these guys.
