To get you in the proper mood, following please find a youtube video of a fairly nondescript (one would surmise) game. As way of background, this is a Big East Quarterfinal match between an underperforming team and a heavily favored, physical team. Mind you, this is not even a semi-final tournament game, much less a championship one. A run of the mill, nondescript tourney game. Just one among several played that day at that arena.

Except...it's played in New York. In Manhattan. In midtown. And it's UCONN. In their house.

Some guy dribbling too much then hitting a free throw? What's the big deal?

Anybody have a gif of Royces opening tip one hand jam from that game? It's the one where Uconns two overhyped bigs parted out of fear.

Here's a video:

That dunk was a strong statement early in the game, and Iowa State came out and punched UConn in the mouth. They were the better team and UConn had no one to match up with Royce White.

But keep in mind that the "overhyped" big that you're talking about is Andre Drummond: who at 20 years old is now averaging 12.8 rebounds (2nd in NBA) and 13.3 points on 62.3% shooting (2nd in NBA) against the best competition in the world. He very well might be the best center in basketball in 3-5 years.

Is it time for a joke about the years when the UConn women's team could beat the UConn men's team?

See, I haven't liked UConn't basketball for a long time. This doesn't change that.
Your boys are in the path of a Cyclone. UConn must be destroyed.

Is MSG more historic than the Spurs arena, where actual NBA championships have been won in the last 10 years?

Most winning individual of the past quarter century now running the show for the most underachieving franchise in American sports the past quarter century...something's gotta give and I'm not sure what.

Sure, considering that the UConn men have spent most of the past 15 seasons in the Top 25 then the women could probably beat most men's teams in the NCAA.

Zing. Nice first post. Still, you have to be the only school whose women's team might actually beat their men's team some years.

From what I can tell podcasting KXNO and Soundoff the Iowa women are on a real tear.

Love the lighting in the garden and atmosphere. Unless you've been there you can't really feel it looking at a video. All the great players want to have great performances in the garden to leave their mark. It's a historical venue. It will make it real difficult for ISU fans to make this trip so our players will have to do their best to take away UCONN's home crowd.
Not to late to jump on the train and take it right under the garden to Penn Station.

Hope there will be plenty of good tickets available for the Sunday game after the UConn fans start dumping theirs.

After Friday's win, I'll be desperately scheming to see what it takes to fly out for the game and right back.
I doubt it's possible, but I'll be adrenalized while I fight the futility.

The road trip to Dallas is really simple. 2 more wins, Cyclones. 2 more wins. Then 2 more. Then nets.

I am thinking about going halfway for the game Friday... Halfway to Dallas that is. Manhattan, KS anyone?

3/4 of the people on east coast couldn't even point to Iowa on a map. Majority of the time they would point to Ohio. I live on the east coast, I like it but arrogance is over the top.

The only thing I like about Connecticut is Frank Pepe.

Allow me to assist our new UConn friends with a quick geography lesson then.
