People are thinking about this WAAAYY too hard. Its Star Wars. Its got little green space wizards, lazer swords, and the space ships are decked out with 80s era screen technology. If you apply very much logic it's really stupid. Just let go and have fun with it.This was a giant plot hole.
We were told that Mayfield was needed because he was "ex imperial" -- even if you believe the "whitelist" theory, then why'd they have to get him???? Mando could have teamed up with literally anyone who has a non-criminal face, stolen a data-rod thing from any imperial, and just done that???? (Which is ultimately exactly what was done!!!!!)

Wasn't Mayfield the one who knew how to get the coordinates, because he was ex-imperial? He steered them to the imperial base, came up with the plan to get in, and told them where they had to go. That's why they needed him. This was a giant plot hole.

Didn't they explain it that it was programmed to look for specific anti-Imperials, rather than all of the "good guy Imperials", because that was easier? Since Mando has never shown his face, the Imperials wouldn't have it programmed as a bad guy. I may have heard it wrong...Wasn't Mayfield the one who knew how to get the coordinates, because he was ex-imperial? Agree Mando's face scan working makes zero sense though.
You are probably right and I just missed that part. That definitely clear it up.Didn't they explain it that it was programmed to look for specific anti-Imperials, rather than all of the "good guy Imperials", because that was easier? Pretty sure it was a "let himself go" Bib Fortuna. As someone not quite as well versed in the canon, who was the guy that Boba ousted? I recognized where he was, but not who was on the throne. Was he one of Jabba's minions in "The Empire Strikes Back"? I have vague memories of a guy with soft horns introducing Luke when he arrived...same dude?
That was Bib Fortuna, one of Jabba's main henchmen. Looks like he gained a few pounds since Leia strangled Jabba in Return of the Jedi.As someone not quite as well versed in the canon, who was the guy that Boba ousted?
