The short time I've been in Washington state and away from Iowa, I would say the simplicity and satisfaction of being from Iowa. We don't need mountains, the ocean, skiing, or craters (Crater Lake). Most people out here seem to be spoiled with everything they have. I loved how little (in a good way) I needed to be happy in Iowa. I'll miss it. I had my family, and the Cyclones. What more do you need?

1.) The scenery - Most people don't see Iowa like I do, as a farmer/agronomist, but an Iowa sunset over a corn field is like crack to me.

2.) The people - Nicest people in the world

3.) The food - Meat and potatoes are awesome.

You dont have to lock your doors, any of them.

Only partly true. My wife and I are from rural South East Iowa. We are currently living in Des Moines because of school. In Des Moines we always lock our cars. However, when we are home visiting the family we don't even think twice about leaving our cars unlocked when sitting at our parents houses (both of our families live outside of a small SE IA town by a mile or two). Last fall my wife's Garmin got stolen out of her car while it was parked in her parents driveway some night. Needless to say all of our cars get locked no matter where now...her parents still don't lock their house doors ever though.

From one who has lived outside of Iowa for more than 36 years:
- People,
- Pace (of life), and
- Product.

After I posted I began to wonder if my leaving is what made Iowa so much more desirable -- maybe I improved both Iowa and Michigan. :mask:
