Not a restaurant thread. More precise. The best meal. For me its between the Steak Oscar at Ranallo's in Ankeny, The seared Tuna with Miso noodles at Americana, or the Niemann Ranch Pork Chop at Djangos. Big fan of the Gunderburger at the Irish Shanti but more for the size of the thing.

Steak Burritos from Abalardo's in Des Moines. Best hangover/drunk food ever. Comes with two with rice/beans for $8, things are monsters. Also, crabmeat ragoon pizza from Fongs is bomb.

Hard to beat the calzone from Zoey's in Marion, but if anything could, it might be the duck frites at Django or the Dead Moines burger at Zombie Burger.

Pepperoni, mild Italian sausage and mushroom pizza at Marco's in Dubuque. Have to stop there every time I'm back visiting. My folks are regulars, and when we go, they tell the waitress, "We want the usual."

Oh my god. I haven't had a Gunder burger since high school. Finished it too!

I feel like I'm going to have to try every one of these I see on here... I really need to eat in Des Moines more often. I mean, I love Valentinos and all, but...

Kinda how I always felt about the 1/2 lb tenderloin on an 8" bun at The Filling Station in Davenport. Certainly not my favorite meal but always fun to try and take down. Is that place still around?

I'll find out next time I'm back home, which might be next month. One of the things I've missed for the last ten years since I moved away is Burger Basket Mondays at The Filling Station. Sand Volleyball there too.

Whenever I visit home, I always try to fire up on the following things if I can:
a Taco Pizza from Happy Joe's Pizza Parlor
a Mint Chocolate Chip Malt from Whitey's Ice Cream
a Pepperoni Calzone from Pizza and Subs (technically in Illinois, but it's still in the Quad-Cities)

Chicken Spiedini at Latin King

I was surprised it took this long for this to appear... Also gets my vote. But the chicken fried steak and eggs at the Waveland, Breaksfast Meatloaf at Mullets, Chicken and Collard greens at Fat Tuesdays, Cheese Topper at Felix and Oscars are all up there

Filet, Greek Spaghetti, Greek salad at Northwest Steakhouse in Mason City.

Any burger I’ve ever tried from Zombie Burger or Gateway Market (all Chef Formaro creations.) Zombie is always packed and I think people forget burgers from Gateway are just as good (although not as many exotic options). Nice plan B if you don’t want to wait it out at Zombie.

Felix and Oscars pizza (their version of Chicago style)

I'll second the taco pizza from Happy Joe's. The closest Happy Joe's is over an hour away from me and now I'm contemplating making a trip.

I also have a list of food I want whenever I'm back in the DSM area.
Taco Pizza from Happy Joe's

Well, Augusta restaurant in Oxford was named the best pork tenderloin in Iowa by the Iowa Pork Producers Association....I mean how do you get more Iowa than that?
