66 days. 9.5 weeks. Still time to get the hype train some more fuel.

They got you. Just because you have to pay for it and the articles are longer your mind wants you to believe it’s better or “premium”. Same ****** beat writers with a couple national generic talking head pundits.
Who are these "same ****** beat writers" now writing for The Athletic? Most of the journalists at the Athletic I hadn't heard of before getting the 7-day free trial. And that is what peaked my interest. Also, they had 2 articles back to back about David Montgomery and Coach Campbell that were far more in-depth than anything I'd ever read on ISU, that is where they hooked me.

For those discussing the run game, I think having Manning back is going to help a lot. The biggest problem I had with our run game last year wasn't our OL, it was the timing of the play calling. We ran DM on first down damn near every time of every drive. We'd run against a stacked box and then spread out and throw against an empty box.

Campbell can't really see that from the field, but it's going to be painfully obvious for Manning sitting in the box. Manning is a great OC. Look for big things come October from our offense

I agree. Getting Manning back is huge. I think that sometimes, Campbell can be kind of stuck in his ways. I don't really believe that he trusted anyone to call plays last year, even though they said it was a team effort. I also believe that Manning would have vetoed the plan to sit Newell vs iowa and start Foster at LT against an NFL DE in Nelson. That was just dumb. Manning would have left JGJ at LT because he knew that Foster couldn't handle Nelson. IMO. At least with JGJ it wouldn't have been a total mismatch.

I wonder if The Athletic would do well with NYT's online strategy. Give people 4-5 a month free then charge them a reasonable subscription rate to get any more than that.

Honestly it wore me down on NYT clicking on something only to see I'd reached my monthly limit. At some point it's just screw it I'll subscribe.

Matt Campbell himself pointed out that the OL wasn’t moving people off the line of scrimmage before the bowl game. I’m afraid I’m going to be forced to take his perspective over yours.

In other words, if the timing of the play calling was an issue, it became an issue because the offensive line wasn’t getting traction.
