Agreed. Media whining they weren't allowed into a volleyball game they would have never covered in the first place is laughable. loved JPs response. It had to be as neutral of an environment as possible.

Jamie's response is funny but probably stupid. However, I don't know why the media even cares about this. Do they honestly think the results would be rigged if not for the great presence of the DM Register or Ames Tribune?

I don't get the idea of replaying the game, but it is within the rules (apparently).

Can you imagine them doing this two years ago for the KU bball game? "ISU-KU will resume the game with 10 seconds left and Georges Niang at the free throw line. The game will be at noon at the empty Sprint center pre-big 12 tourney" if only... :)

I'm surprised this was even possible. Too bad they can't do it for FB and BB.

Volleyball seems to run things pretty smartly. NCAA bids are dependent on RPI much more so than basketball. The do-over was very unusual but hell, it seems kind of fair.

Doubt that TTech would say that. They're resuming a match in the fifth set was played at Lubbock, and finishing it in Ames. Even CJL said it didn't seem fair.

check out page 8 or so on the thread about it on Volleytalk. Poster discussed that ISU and Tech were fine with it being a no contest result. Other teams (make your own educated guesses) in the league pushed for the rematch basically due to the fact that if ISU lost a replay (which, to be honest, would seem a reasonable expectation) they would have a better chance at gaining a seed. Which makes a lot of sense. Why would ISU want to risk a no contest turning into a bad RPI loss (since a win wouldn't do much for us) and Tech probably didn't care to do a replay in Ames - crowd or not.
