Second to the last home match, versus Texas Tech. Too bad it's vacation nearly everywhere because it looks like a win. TT is last in Big 12 conference right now.

Could post this in ticket exchange thread, but pretty sure no one is going there now for VB: as basketball season ticket holders we have two free general admission passes for this match that starts at 6:30 p.m. Let me know if you want them. I can email the graphic to print the "admission" tickets.

Update to this: TT was the opponent from earlier in the season when ISU lost 3-2, but appealed an official's decision on awarding a point to TT and taking away a point from ISU. The Big12 upheld that appeal and the match will be replayed from that point in the match (set 5). No spectators allowed. Could mean a slightly different approach by both teams tomorrow night.

This whole thing is one of the weirdest things I've seen happen in a long time. Can't say I even understand what is going on either, but who cares I guess. At least we get another crack at it.

It would be great to get that match back into the 'W' column instead of where it ended up. Combined with another win in the evening against Tech, it would put Iowa State in a better spot come selection day. I still am on the fence if we will get to host 1st and 2nd rounds before hosting the regional, but there is always the possibility and this will not hurt one bit.

Another official reprimand to add to our collection!

Can you imagine them doing this two years ago for the KU bball game? "ISU-KU will resume the game with 10 seconds left and Georges Niang at the free throw line. The game will be at noon at the empty Sprint center pre-big 12 tourney" if only... :)

that is crazypants.

So will spectators be let in after the end of the replay match? Or is it being played after the regular game?

According to the release, the "replay" is set for noon in Hilton.

"Because the contest is being played in Ames instead of carried out at its original location in Lubbock, the replayed match will not be open to the public in order to maintain as neutral an atmosphere as possible. Only necessary game management personnel and administrators will be permitted to be in attendance."

Regular match time is tomorrow night at 6:30.

ah, that works then. So odd that they didn't just let it stand as a tie but I guess it's another shot.

Does anyone remember the rule or situation? Was it an issue with our rotation? I can't remember the situation.

As I recall, it had something to do with an improper (sorry, can't remember the term) rotation that happened earlier, but wasn't caught until then. Very weird. We were listening/watching online, I think, and had to rely on people there who were announcing or otherwise privy to the conversation. On the Iowa State Volleyball Facebook page this afternoon, they say they've been asked not to go into details.

I would imagine Tech vehemently fought that outcome since they were ahead 8-5 in the fifth at the time. They still have a great shot at getting the W.

well that worked out well for them then.

Nice job on the ......replay win, I guess? Haha. And the good thing (to me at least) is that it was close and went past 15. I don't see either team as having a huge advantage and just blowing the other one out.

The media is apparently in an uproar that they weren't involved in the finished game. I guess I kind of see the point, but what the hell does it really matter? That's one thing about sports media that irritates me.....I appreciate coverage, but they do get really bent out of shape about things. For example, Sam Richardson not playing against Kansas.

Agreed. Media whining they weren't allowed into a volleyball game they would have never covered in the first place is laughable. loved JPs response. It had to be as neutral of an environment as possible.
