I am a huge Texas/Red Dirt/Alt. Country fan. I like it all from Cross Canadian Ragweed to Hank Williams III and my only problem with it is the lack of live bands playing the music north of Mizz-urah! I was in Manhattan for the game this weekend and noticed that they have a tone of live concerts by the big boys of the industry (Micky and the Motorcars and Bleu Edmondson both next week). I was just wondering if there were any other Texas Country fans out there among the Fanatics who would like to see more live music up here in CycloneNation.

P.S. How rediculus is it that Iowa now borders the SEC? I thought that this weekend when we crossed into Mizz-urah on our way to the game.

I agree. I'm just getting into that kind of music. I have listen to Ragweed for quite a while but hadn't really looked into it any further.

I saw Jason Boland in Leon about a month and he puts on a great show. The venue was really nice too. I think it was called The Woodshed or something like that. It would be nice if Outlaws or Val Air could get some of those guys up here. I think there would be a pretty good turnout from ISU students. Eric Church at Val Air and Boland in leon about half the crowd was ISU students.

Hayes Carll plays at Vaudeville Mews quite a bit.

I would love to see more of these acts playing in Ames. A place like Headliners is missing out by not exploring this kind of thing. People's seems to have more alt-rock/punkish bands these days.

I think Boland played at the Woodshed twice in a span of two months, but I had to miss out both times. Too bad Ragweed broke up, they were in Iowa about 3-4 times a year. I know Headliners would be packed if someone like Casey Donahew or Josh Abbot would be up there, about half of CALS listens to that kind of music. Heck its nearly all they play at Outlaws anymore.

I'm not sure Headliners would be the place to have something like that. Every time I go there it's like watching an episode of Jersey Shore. That might change if they advertised for it though so it might work.

I agree, it just seems like the place with the most space. The basement in Outlaws would be much to small. I guess they could have them on the dance floor and that part to the side.
