I think if you are Dixon, you look at the Big 12 and see Self at Kansas, Prohm at ISU, Kruger at OU, Beard at Tech, and maybe Weber at KSU. Then you look at the Pac 12 and the absolute dumpster fire that league is and the job that is open is the best one in the conference. So do you want to fight through 4-5 really good coaches at better basketball schools than TCU or go to UCLA in an awful Pac 12? Seems simple.

It should be waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier for a good coach to dominate the Pac at UCLA right now than to dominate the B12 at probably any school but KU.

Normally I’d agree but I think the fact that TCU is his Alma Mater gives it a small advantage. UCLA is one of the most overrated jobs in the country.

I agree that it's overrated (Wooden isn't coming back), but the name still opens the door to the elite recruits. In that sense, it's still a much more prestigious job than TCU, and also has a higher potential ceiling.

For a random coach UCLA is till significantly better than TCU. I’d put UCLA as a top 25-30 job. TCU is probably more in the 40-60 range normally. I might be overvaluing the Alma Mater part but I got the impression that was a big draw for him.

Is there any chance he is able to graduate by the end of summer and be an eligible immediately grad transfer?

You don't have to cheat to get KU level recruits to UCLA.

I'd pick squeaky clean UCLA over any of the recruiting visits Jesus Shuttlesworth had.

Thought he’d end up at a high major. His injuries must’ve really scared a lot of teams off

Bart Torvik has them #120 nationally (and #3 in the WAC) before this news.

Once he is eligible/healthy, he is going to tear that conference up.

If he is healthy once again, of course.

Imagine putting like Shayok in a low-/mid-major like that. Yikes.

Still not convinced that is a real school that plays division 1 basketball.

When I moved to Phoenix I didn't realize the school was actually in Phoenix. I'd hear about GCU and think "who goes to school up there? There aren't any towns or people there....."

It wasn't until I played the school's golf course that I realized the school was not actually in the Grand Canyon. I'm not smart.

Similar story to mine when I moved out here. I had no clue they were in Phoenix either. I ended up finding out after being teamed up with another 2 some out at Wigwam golf course. The 2 some was 2 ladies that played on their golf team.

They actually have a pretty good environment for home games,,I've caught a few games on late at night. I think averaged a sellout the last few seasons (their arena only holds like 7k ...) and are pretty competitive in their league. I believe they also won at UNI last year.

I always liked Fishers game so its a little surprising he ended up at a lower tier program but with what he's been through, I'll be rooting for him to do well.

I'm glad it's not just me. Thanks. :)

The first winter I lived out here we played Wigwam and did all 54 holes in a day. I haven't been in a couple of years but we have an event out there in early September. Looking forward to it.
