Here is the Autoblog review of the SHO model.

First Drive: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO offers excellence without emotion

Sort of back and forth between good and bad. The last couple lines pretty well sum it up: "But it isn't a sport sedan. And to us, at least... that means it isn't really a SHO."

I think it would go over well at $30,000, but at $38,000 there is just too much superior competition.

I hope it sells for their sake, but "upscale Taurus" is an oxymoron.

The car magazines really like cars that are performance driven. That's why the're mentioning Honda, Bimmer and Audi. That's also the reason they did not mention Toyota...

This is supposed to be a big family car, so I wouldn't put too much stock in what the car magazines are saying on the perfomance side of the equation.

Jalopnik - 2010 Ford Taurus: First Drive - 2010 ford taurus

jalopnik seemed to like it. I'm actually somewhat intrigued by this car. I really do like the looks of it. The Fusion and the Taurus are two of the (few) cars I'd consider from the Big 3 at the moment.

The grills are pretty ugly, though. I wish they'd fix that.

The biggest achilles heel with the Taurus, IMO (at least according to the review) is the abysmal real-world fuel economy.

I had a rental Avalon a few months back and I really did enjoy that car. If it was RWD, it would have been a lot more exciting. It had TONS of room, though, and handled much better than it should have considering what a land yacht it was. It also got upper 20s on the highway.

I realize it hasn't happened here yet, but inevitably every car thread turns into an American owned vs. American made debate. Here's some objective data that might prove surprising to some. The Taurus is #1 in domestic parts content, so technically we're still on topic, even though it's based on the outgoing model.

Not surprising at all.

I guess the question then becomes, is that a good thing?

Like I said, to some. There are still a lot of people living in denial with regards to how "American" something is. I'm not trying to push people one way or the other, I'm exclusively a GM owner myself. Just presenting some factual information that seems relevant to the ongoing debate that has been leaping across every car related thread for the last 6-8 months.
